It's the MOST won-der-ful tiiiiime... of... the year!
Hunting season is finally here! I'm like a kid on Christmas eve right now. Can't freaking wait til Friday! Dove season starts Thursday. I'm all ready to go. Got my license this weekend, packed up my dove hunting gear last night. Shotguns are all cleaned up and shells are bought. I've even been working with the ole bird dog the last week or so. We got an electric collar for this year so I can attempt to get more control over him. If you have any question about Reed's hunting capabilities, please see previous dove threads. It's been all over the map. But, he is getting better.
I'll try to keep this thread active with pics and stories from the field. Feel free to add your own.

Only 3 days to go. Hope to have many of these days over the next two months.

I'm all about it Sully.
I'm ready for Squirrel season since I don't bowhunt in October. I've had the itch to kill and eat something serious here recently. I've been keeping my corn and protein pellets in the feeder out at our lease and we've been seeing decent does and fat ass boars with sows. I have a few bucks hanging around but I haven't seen any yet that would be worth hanging on a wall. They'll come in soon enough though.

If they're not, I need to find a place around here with dove for a reasonable price.

Yes. I wish there was somewhere near here that had good birds.

ooh. ooh, I can brag on here about this....I fixed my timer on my feeder, all by myself, which is a feat, because I am a mechanical retard.
So now I am ready for deer season. Maybe I should get in to dove hunting, they're all over the ranch I hunt.

I've had some visitors recently on my creek bed spot. Probably the same a-holes who ruined my watermelon and soy plot right next to the feeder. This should get real interesting. I have not seen these guys in daylight ever. They are going to be sneaky bastards I think.

I hope I have some deer pics to post after this weekend, and a couple of tailgates full of dove.

Didn't get any. But there have been abuot 1- neighborhood cats patroling the premises since then so I don't think there will be a problem for a while.
I'm about to go wasp hunting. There are two nests on the front porch and one is getting a little out of hand. Might do the humane thing and relocate them to a more remote part of the yard so as to not disturb the ecosystem.

Nah, the wasps aren't a nuisance and they control ants, flies, aphids, and mosquitoes as well as helping polinate plants. I may relocate the hive high in the indian cigar tree out front.

I can't quit checking the THF to see how opening day is going for everyone. A lot of birds were dropped this AM all over the state. Apparently Frisco sounds like WWIII. I wish I was out there. This sucks.
