It's a message board tracking device. If he gets on this board, it shocks the hell out of him. Speaking of shock. Finch and I also tried out the collar on ourselves. I only went to level 4, but he took up to level 6 like a man. Not going to lie, this made me laugh my ass off...OW! Son of a...

Went hunting with my brother in law while I was in Vernon this past weekend. We went out to a buddy of his' place and set up on a tank for about an hour and only saw 5-6 birds out of range. We decided to run to another tank on the place and on the way scared up 10-20 birds, so we decided to stop there. Over the next couple of hours it was slow, but we ended up with 11 birds. There aren't near as many birds there as usual. As always, when I go out with him, he out shot me by a lot. I only ended up with 4 to his 7.

Highlights from this weekend's trip to the lease. Saturday afternoon 4 of us went and dove hunting on our favorite tank and got 25 birds. Should have got a lot more, but we had a little trouble shooting accurately. Stayed up way too late Sat night, but it was all worth it. Got out to the sunflower field at 7 AM Sunday morning. 5 of us got 46 birds. I think we lost a few and easily could have all limited out...again, if only we could shoot. Scheu did a little bow hunting, but didn't get anything. We got a new stand set up (6x6 monster blind thanks to Scheu) and checked cams, filled feeders, etc. We're ready for deer season. Here are a few pics from the cam. Storm rolling in scared the shit out of this fawn, literally... Few of the bucks over the last week. Not much to look at, really, but the does are coming in every day, so hopefully they'll draw more in. The deer are looking pretty skinny due to the drought, I'm sure. It may be opening weekend before I get back out there again, so wish us all luck.

That's a lot of dove. You probably need to grill a bunch of them to make room in your freezer. I'll do what I can to help you get rid of them.

Possibly the best buck we've seen on our place.

by far the best we've seen this year. I think we had some huge ones at Scheu's stand last year that had quite a bit more mass than this guy.
That spread and height are unbelievable, though.

Looking at the base of his antlers I don't think his mass is as bad as it looks. It's not great, but I think that's probably the best deer we have ever seen out at the lease.
Hopefully someone gets a chance to give him a dirt nap.

I keep coming back to this pic. What a great buck! I really hope someone shoots his ass.
I bet his spread is about 18 inches. Maybe 20. Main beams gotta be close to 22-24 each. I bet he's an over 130" 8 point. Very impressive. Especially considering the drought and conditions and our area. He's probably 4.5. But will get shot this year if he shows himself to any neighbors or us and rightfully so. He makes us for what he's missing in mass with overall tine length and spread.

Yeah I agree. His spread is huge. He's incredibly tall. Mass is probably not as bad as I think, it's just being offset by how wide and tall he is

Very Nice! I've only killed a spike, some does and a small buck, now that I've gotten all of that out of the way, I'm being picky this year, There's some good ones where I hunt, but not that nice, not that I've seen on the camera anyway.

Had a fun dove hunt yesterday in Vernon. It was just me and the dog, but we got a good workout in. I started out next to this tank with my mojo and got two mourning dove early, then the mojo died, and I couldn't get anything to come close to me. So, I turned around and saw a ton of ringed neck doves in a big cottonwood tree behind me. I drove the truck up there and parked right under it. The next 30 minutes were nuts. Those big dumb doves just kept coming in. I'd shoot a couple, and the whole group would circle around and come right back. I ended up with 2 mournings and 21 ringnecks. We grilled them up for lunch just a couple hours later. Great time!
