We're not here to talk about the past. That league would have died much sooner if it weren't for TU and A&M.

I guess if you look at facts that you want and disregard the ones that you don't want you can win any argument.

What do you mean? Arky saw the writing on the wall and got the hell out. Four private schools spelled disaster for the SWC.

We'll see if the MWC ever has one tenth the success that the SWC had. My guess is that it will fold within a few years and its years of futility and mediocrity forgotten.
You asked what evidence I had that regional rivalries would breed popularity. I brought up one of the most successful and popular conferences in the history of football. Its very relevant and subject appropriate.

Here's a notion: since 1995 NOBODY but you, Mike, and the sad-sac fans of these schools care. NO ONE ELSE DOES. We've already been with these teams in the WAC and CUSA and NOBODY cared then. Why would they care now?

Look, the only way tcu will ever sell out their stadium would be to get into a real conference.
That isn't going to happen. But the next best thing would be to get some local rivalries started back up. It may take a year or two, but you have a far greater chance of garnering interest with SMU than you do Utah. At first people wouldn't care, but then you revive the old rivalries and you could get people interested.
Sure, not many people would care. But NO ONE cares now, and they won't.

We've already tried it and no one gave a damn. In the WAC we were in Quadrant 4 with SMU, Rice, and Tulsa. UTEP was there too. We were with UH in CUSA. We had 10 years with those schools an no one gave a damn.

y'all all sucked really bad and no one cared.
Now Rice, Tulsa, Houston, and kind of UTEP are good and no one cares.
If y'all were all in a conference now, it would be huge.
