looks nice.
pointless, but nice.
I still don't think its a good idea to expand a stadium that is usually only half full.

You didn't read the article. They are NOT increasing the seating. In fact, they may be LOSING some capacity. TCU says they like the "feel" of a 40000 seat stadium.
Bailey said the capacity of the stadium likely wouldn't change significantly.
"I think if there's any decrease, or much, it will be more of a byproduct of architecture than it will trying to cut the number of seats," Bailey said. "We think there's something special about 40,000 seats...

you caught me, I didn't read it. I just looked at the picture.
So how is this supposed to make me gain respect for them? They have to cut seats to fill up there stadium.
They are following suit of what big brother SMU did recently. Not a bad plan, I guess.

I don't think Matt read it either. Why would you give ammunition like this to the opposing view?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that and neither are most of the people on the TCU board. 50k is a better number for attacting decent OOC oppontents-esp. OU and LSU who we've already scheduled. As far as attendance, it was never half full and only once in the last 4 years has total attendance been less than half. TCU needs to increase their marketing. That's always been a point of frustration. SMU runs circles around us in advertising-not that it helps much. But I think simple marketing strategies can boost attendance about 5000 a game.
I'm just excited about replacing the asphalt concourses.

Wow, I'm sure there are plenty of people around DFW that would love to watch TCU play, they just haven't heard about them. There is one thing that brings fans to games, winning. If you still can't get fans to come to your games after several 10 win seasons it just ain't going to happen.

Welcome to the long standing, un-winnable debate Finch. Good Luck.

If you still can't get fans to come to your games after several 10 win seasons it just ain't going to happen. I can't tell you how many times I've had people tell me they're surprised at the price of a ticket. My seats are at the 47 and are $35 a piece. Most of the people I talk to think they are the price of average tickets for A&M, OU, TU, etc. I think the cheapest adult ticket is $20 and kids can get in for $12. It's one of the best deals in town. I heard exactly two commercials for TCU football this year on the radio compared to hundreds for SMU. A simple radio spot a couple times a day a few days before the game advertising the time would more than pay for itself. I think night games hurt attendance as well. If they did more mid afternoon it would be better. No more 7 PM start times. Most people are almost footballed out by that time of the day and are on to other things.

if tcu didn't play in the Mountain West Conference their attendence would be better.
No one wants to see those schools play.
Play some people with regional and historical ties and people would go.

It wouldn't make a damn bit of difference. Rice had home games against UNT and SMU and the attendance was 168000 and 23000 accordingly. No thanks, we do better than that with SFA. They said that the game against UH had 35k but but I watched that game and there was nowhere near that many people.
