I don't think recruiting violations directly compare to what Petrino has gotten himself into. Coaches who are in trouble for recruiting violations usually are in trouble for paying players. Petrino is in trouble for paying strange.

The U went on probation for what happened during Erickson's (Dennis, not Craig) reign. Some players under JJ's regime were named in the investigation but the NCAA said those instances were pretty much too old to accurately research. They didn't go on probation until 1996.
The GP rumors are always going to be out there but they passed him up for a snake last time. How high would Piggie be willing to go? TCU just built him a $160M office. His wife may divorce him if he leaves so they better have a fleet of choppers included in the offer. I just don't see him as a good fit for those peckerheaded inbreds.

Recruiting violations /= possible federal labor law infractions
I honestly don't understand how Arkansas fans can't see the difference. Had he not hired this woman, this probably would have all blown over pretty quickly.
And please stop blaming Arkansas or Long for all this. Petrino forced their hand and left them no choice. The guy is straight up douche bag. Please name another football coach that openly interviewed for a head coach position that wasn't vacant, left his team in the middle of the season and was too chicken shit to face said team, and hired his mistress to work for him.
You can blame the AD for hiring him in the first place, but blaming them for firing him now is ridiculous.

Those peckerhead inbreds have got you kind of worried, huh? We both know he accepted the job once before and it's a much better program today than it was 5 years ago.

Nope. I'm not worried about Coach P anymore. I'd rather be a fencepost in Fort Worth than the king of Gayetteville.

I'm pretty much in the minority amoung Arkansas fans. 80% realize that Petrino had to go, and that % is rising everyday. Arkansas lost the best football coach we have ever had in my lifetime. I'll eventually get over it, but it won't be today.

Mike, this might make you feel better.
Our DC here at Legacy ran into Tevin Mitchel's dad Eric at Wal Mart on Wednesday evening. He asked about how Tevin was doing and how this whole situation is being perceived by the players. According to Tevin, the players HATED Petrino. They knew he was a good X's and O's coach but they didn't respect him. Thought he was a sorry person. Tevin said that he knew of 3-4 STARTERS who were thinking of transferring. They're all really excited now and they are really unified that they are going to win.
Also, seems a lot of his coaches aren't coming to their former boss's defense. Quite the opposite.
