Funny...I read a few reports over the last couple weeks that said the SEC made more than a few calls to TCU and it coincided with UT's sudden change in their opinion of TCU...hmmm...
Moving on...pretty obvious now that MU is moving to the SEC and WVU is headed to the Big XII. I'm also hearing that the B12 and Notre Dame are in discussions to move their other sports to the conference. ND is not very pleased with the what has left the BE and who the proposed additions are. Among the items of negotiations are a 6-game annual football deal with the B12 and an annual game between UT/ND on Thanksgiving. Interesting...

Sec did not ever talk to tcu. This is getting sad.

You don't think any phone calls were ever made between the two? After their top choices from the ACC fell through, WVU being declined, and the SEC nation being lukewarm to Mizzou why is it unlikely that any calls weren't made? I never said it was serious and TCU would have been way down the list. The Star Telegram had an article about it last week. Several other publications have mentioned it too.

Do you have links for any of this or is it just all message board gossip? I've heard all of these talking points at some time over the past 4 months but have yet to see one single reputable source for any of it. Sounds like a bunch of TCU fans trying to justify joining the Bevo 10.

I'm guessing this isn't the picture Dodds had in mind when he started all this bs last year. This conference is beyond pathetic.

Yeah, lets see some confirmation about TCU being contacted by the SEC.
To answer your question, NO. I do not think any phone calls were made from the SEC to TCU.
Yeah finch, I guess all that BS that was spewed about not having the kids travel too far, and looking out for the regional rivalries is out the door now.

I'll try to find those reports. Despite what you think, I did not save them to my favorites. Again, I never said I thought or that it was reported that they were a serious candidate. It's called due diligence. I think given the overall discomfort and unenthusiastic reception among the fan base that MU has received the SEC owed it to their institutions and fans to perform DD on about a dozen schools. The notion of a DFW presence is not something that can be easily dismissed without talking about it first. The geography won't be so bad once Louisville is added and ND is added as a non-football member. It's not nearly as bad as this: www.wvupressbox.com/football/the-birth-of-the-mega-conference/

You can't seriously believe that TCU brings a presence in DFW other than the school is located in FW. Texas, OU, A&M, and maybe even tech all have a bigger presence in DFW than TCU. Dodds has said several times that he thinks a 10 member conference is as good as it gets. I wouldn't count on the Big 12-2-1+1-1+1 adding anyone for at least a year or two. Stop with the ND bs, there is zero indication that they are planning on moving. ND won't make any moves until superconferences are formed and a playoff looks likely. Until then ND will sit back and let everything work itself out.

The Big 12-2-1+1-1+1 might as well pick up Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana and Ohio along the way. If putting the WVU plans on hold to see what happens with Louisville is a real deal, then pick them both up and drop Ohio...
What a mess. This is all F'd up.

I like to think I keep up with the happenings in the SEC. Never heard any mention of adding TCU. Pretty sure the SEC wants to concentrate on large state schools.
The SEC doesn't need a DFW presence for television exposure. Everyone watches the SEC anyway.

Yeah, there have been zero rumors about tcu being contacted except on this message board.
Good point about the metroplex presence Finch. Throw Arkansas and OK State in there ahead of tcu as well. Overall, SMU has a far greater presence than TCU does in the metroplex. Not in football right now, but overall.
