He turned Aggie basketball from a laughing-stock to a top team in the Big XII. I don't see why you think he will be below average every year. When did I say he would be below average every year? 7-10 wins a year in the Big 12 is slightly above average, which is the best tech could hope for no matter who is the coach. I agree he took the Ags from one of the worst teams in the nation to a respectable team, but Turge is the one that made sure it stayed that way. BCG had the benefit of two NBA players on the same team his first year and a lottery pick with ice water in his veins the third year. It's very doubtful he will have that in Lubbock. His system will fit in great there, and they will win some games. But he won't be able to recruit well enough to take them past where the Ags are right now. That's why I said I'm not worried as long as Turge keeps the Ags moving in the right direction. It is yet to be seen if he can get past the sweet 16 though.

I dont see the Ags getting out of the second round. I'm actually a little nervous about the first round. They are looking like they will pull about a 7 seed right now. They'll need to beat Texas in the Big 12 tourny to move up anymore. Their offense is just too sketchy and it seems like they are constantly missing free throws. Turnovers are also a problem. Hopefully Middleton can step it up next year and be more of a dominant player. They need to find that "special" player. My brother is mentioning a PG named Branch coming in next year that he is excited about. The Ags are probably a solid 6 right now, although it wouldn't surprise me if they got a 7 seed. If they knock off tu in the tourney then they might even get a 5. Currently the Ags have a very very nice tourney resume despite how bad they have played down the stretch. I agree about your other observations. How far we go in the tourney depends all on match ups. If we get two finesse teams in the first two rounds I think we have a legit shot at the sweet 16. If we get a physical team in the first round we could be gone the first day. Just depends on who we draw. Jamal Branch out of Grace Prep in Arlington. At one point he was one of the highest rated players in Texas, but his stock has dropped somewhat since his junior year. He is a player not doubt, but the issue is he may not be that great a scorer, which the Ags desperately need at PG right now. Jordan Green, a SG, out of Flower Mound is the one you might want to keep an eye on. Only a 3 star going in to his senior year, but he has lit the highlight reel up this year. Remains to be seen if he can do it at the next level, but there is talk that he might be the best player Turge has recruited yet. Next year will be Turge's make or break year. It will the best talent he has had while in Aggieland, along with every player being his own. A bad year next year and the clock starts ticking. But I have feeling next year will be a special year for Aggie basketball.

My worry is that they play so many close games and yet they suck at the line. That's not a good combonation.

But they WIN most of their close games.
I agree with Finch. BCG performed a miracle here. He caught lightning in a bottle, with the studs he had on the team and the way he got them to play. I think he did what no one else in the country could have done. But he is not someone who is going to build a dynasty. I'll take Turge any day of the week over Billy Clyde. What Turge has done has been nothing short of what BCG did. He is actually known as a BETTER recruiter, is a better in game/x's and o's guy, loves defense just like BCG, and isn't going to get 3 DWI's. Turge's problem is that he doesn't pan to the media like BCG did. What you see is what you get.
A lot of rumors are out there that 90% of BCG's players hated him. The other 10% would take a bullet for him. Most people in the know say that all of Turge's players love him.
I think he will win at tech, but I don't think tech will ever be elite. Just like Finch said.

Yes they do win their close games but being crappy at free throws is gonna end up biting you in the ass. In big games in the tourny they aren't going to be able to sneak by if they are missing from the line late in the game. Just a worry.
I do agree that he caught lightening in a bottle and I was just saying that he would still worry me a little bit at TT. More than Pat Knight at least.

So TCU won last night. They beat UTA and Pete Incaviglia's speedy nephew 7-3.

Saw ASU and UC-Riverside play Sunday, and Air Force and Kansas. Couple of bonus games on our spring training trip.

Does FIU have the hitting streak rapist or is that FAU?
Thanks to the pathetic TCU student production team the game wasn't on TV last night. I can't watch a TCU home game on the mtn. anymore. It's brutal. They'll cut to the camera where the play is being made AFTER the play is made.
Anyone noticed OU's hot start?
Tony Gwynn is a FAIL at SDSU. I am saddened by this.

I believe it is FIA. And its "alleged rapist."

OU is off to a ridiculous start, and of course the Ags get to play them next weekend in Norman to start conference play. Starting conference 0-3 sucks no matter how good the opponent, so hopefully they can find a way to steal a game.
