Word is that Muschamp said "no, uh-uh." Same thing with GP and Fisher. Hearing now that Patrick Nix has become a player. He's an alum but good grief, did they actually watch Miami this year? Their offense was a stinkin' mess. I know they're young but they were completely unorganized. I think he's only been an OC one year.

I withdrew my name early on, and its spelled with a "c" --Fischer.
The word was not that Patterson turned it down. It was that he was not offered the job, which goes right along with my theory...Patterson must be a HORRIBLE interview. I've met, and talked with the man and I can see him being terrible. He sweats profusely, talks to fast, mumbles, changes topics randomly, and he's not real charismatic.

I'm just going from what ESPN.com reported.
TCU's Gary Patterson is no longer interested after interviewing on Thursday. Auburn is supposed to talk to Wake Forest's Jim Grobe on Friday, and there are also rumblings that Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson and East Carolina's Skip Holtz could be targets.
I didn't say he turned it down. I just said that he said "uh-uh." It's like when I intereviewed with Fannie Mae. I never was offered the job but the next day I knew it would take at least seven figures to lure me away. I followed up but didn't expect to hear from them. I wasn't very enthusiastic in the interview. GP probably wasn't either. The difference was that his employer knew about it and he could use it as a bargaining chip. My employer would probably say "see ya!"

I guess that is kind of the same.
Except that Patterson probably desperately wanted the job, tanked in the interview, and didn't get it.

I still think he's holding out for a BIG gig. Until he gets it, he'll stay where he's at.

It doesn't get much bigger than Auburn.
What else could he want?

I don't know what to think. I can't believe they would take that chance on him after being so terrible at Iowa State. But then you think, well, its Iowa State. So we shall see.

It doesn't get much bigger than Auburn. What else could he want? Did you see the warm welcome Chizick received? Who would want to put their family through that BS. And they would have done that with anyone but Gil, Spurrier, or God.

that is at all real programs. If you win, they love you.

True, but I think most fans are a bit more civil at other programs. Plus, the school has some very unrealistic expectations. Not even Aggies were that bad. Well, maybe they were (see RC) but they were much more civil about it. The talk shows were littered with rednecks trashing almost every candidate.

Auburn can win a MNC. They have the money, the facilities, the conference, the athletes.

You can say that about 20 programs across the nation.
Remember, this is the same AD who went behind Tubberville's back to sign Petrino, only to have Bobby the Snake back out. The AD is a complete tool. There's one big alum that essentially controls the athletic department. No wonder they had to settle on Chizick.

You can say that about 20 teams across the nation. That is correct.
TCU is not one of those teams. So when one of those 20 teams offers you a job, you take it.
Auburn did not offer GP the job.
