TCU's national title's were in 1938 and in 1935. In 35 it was only given the National title according to one outlet...the Williamson report...which also gave it to LSU.
Nothing wrong with that, I just wouldn't use it as an argument.
You aren't going to convince ANYONE with any football knowledge that TCU has more history than SMU.
One middle of the pack donor says they were upset, so that means there is a coup? You have to be smarter than that.
The National Championship Foundation is the organization that awarded SMU their National Title in 1981 by the way. That is the same organization that awarded TCU their 1938 National Championship.

The NCF was a recognized outlet in 38. No one cared for them after 1950.

This whole thread has GOT to be the weakest argument you have EVER made, and you have made some incredibly weak ones.
You have resorted to arguing whether your 1938 National title is more relevant than a 1981 National Title awarded from the same organization.

In 81 that organization was obsolete.
You can say all you want about how great Jones is but if GP were to leave and we replaced him w/ Jones, I, along with most of the Frog faithful would be pretty disappointed.

Would you be disappointed in Gary Patterson went to Hawaii?? They need a coach. If I were him, I'd make a couple of calls.

He would have no interest in Hawaii. UH is a step down in all facets.

Step down? They're making BCS appearances!
Something the Frogs have been dreaming of for years now...

It is pretty outlandish, but so is every comment that stubbs has made on this thread.
Show me some proof that the National Championship Foundation was more significant in 1938 than in 1981.
Also, show me a recruit, a college football fan, or anyone for that matter who gives a rip about a 1938 National title.
Your purple colored glasses won't allow you to see that tcu is at best a regional tier 2 or 3 team. SMU is also that, but with a lot more name recognition and some more recent history.

... and some more recent history. This means more than a couple of decent seasons in the MWC with a few wins to get a huge bandwagon of regional supporters to jump on and complain every year that you don't get enough recognition.

I don't think most people outside of North Texas even know where TCU is. Lots of people know where SMU is.

Step down? They're making BCS appearances! Something the Frogs have been dreaming of for years now... Watch what you pluralize. This was the one and only. Had this year's rules been in place all along, TCU would have been to three BCS bowls already. We all know they weren't worthy of a BCS appearance this year. Playing two D-1AA schools alone should have disqualified them. Voters in both polls tried like hell to keep them out of the top 15 but teams ahead of them tried like hell to lose. They finished 19th, behind BYU and they didn't even deserve that.

More recent history? They haven't been ranked in 23 years! WTF? Maybe if you're talking about a history of losing.
And right now I do see them as a 2nd tier team. They are what they are. The MWC isn't BCS nor should it be right now.
And Sully, it's not the MAC.

23 yrs is more recent than 1938.
Oh, and Hawaii this year is a good reason why TCU should never get the chance to be in a BCS bowl. They have NEVER been as good as Hawaii was this year and look what happened to them.
