See...the wheels are beginning to turn. SMU gives TCU more than they can handle now; imagine what is going to happen now that they have made such a commitment to football.

This hire is killing Frog fans. June Jones will bring in more studs to play that offense. If I were a D1 recruit staying in the DFW area...Jones or Patterson. I choose Jones.

If I am a receiver or a throwing qb my choices in the Metroplex go: SMU, UNT, TCU.

Boy, nothing motivates like a one-win season, huh? They woke up after the last game of the season and said they needed to make a commitment?
What a joke SMU is. They fired Dingaling Bennett before Halloween and it took 71 days to find a replacement. You mean to tell me that Jones was their man all along? Hiring Jones was an act of desperation to save face in the biggest debacle on the Hilltop since Andre Ware lit them up for a nickel short of a buck. Fran and Coker would have at least done something in recruiting but as of yesterday, the 2008 recruiting class is a joke.
Once again, should have dropped to 1-AA when they had the chance.

haha, yeah right. you have a huge case of denial. No one said he was their man all along. They were fortunate to be a player in the June's Sweepstakes because he was unhappy at Hawaii. He brings national recruiting credibility to SMU.

I've never seen a bigger case of denial.
They took their time in the seach...did it right.
There was no desperation in hiring Jones. You'll be suprised. Get ready Frogs.

How is this killing Frog fans? Oh wait, you're right, we're dying from laughter. So you'd choose Jones and a 1 win team in a pathetic conference over a team that has gone to a bowl in 8 or 9 years, puts players in the pros, four 10-win seasons in 6 years? Would Jones get all this pub if they didn't have College of Charleston and Norther Colorado on their schedule? They aren't even a top 20 team. They got very lucky in a screwy year. My hat's off to Jones, though. He milked it, played his cards right, and pulled the wool over SMU's eyes for a bigger pay day.

desperation?? Not hardly. This hire is far more big time than any other they could have made.
Fran: fired after five sucky years and driving a program to irrellevence. Coker: one year removed from being fired at Miami, where the recruiting had dried up big time Jones: This year went undefeated in the regular season and went to a BCS game at HAWAII of all places.
Who would you want?

Are you kidding me? What a joke. They were the first team to fire their coach and the last team to hire one. Alums were up in arms and Orsini was about to experience a coup. It was a face-saving mission. Period.

Just because they didn't hire him the next day doesn't mean they didn't do it right.
What if they were in talks with Jones all along and he said wait till the Sugar Bowl is over? They knew they had Fran or Coker if they wanted him. There was no rush. They wanted to get the right guy.
A coup?? are you kidding? What B.S. rag do you read that gives you all this drivel that you spew out? Or do you just make it up?

TCU is in a precarious position here. Stuck with outdated facilities and in a conference with no TV exposure or local rivals they are about to become irrelevant in the DFW area. They need to realize SMU has just passed them on the national radar. Yeah boys, this hire is BIG TIME and puts SMU back on the map.

What do you think Gary Patterson thinks about his nemesis being paid $2 million per year? I bet that will cause all kinds of tension among the coaches and the administration. He can't feel very wanted at TCU. Would you?
