Really the question should be who do like sometimes, but not all the time. I mean, you like some of their songs, but not all, just kinda in the middle about it.

Ok, my middle of the road bands......Randy Rogers. He does some really cool stuff, his live show is great, but he's not quite there yet. Kevin Fowler. We played with him new year's eve, he was really cool to us. And that band is very very tight. And I like some of the drinking songs. But that loose loud and crazy is garbage. And the video for hard man to love is up there with ben harper on the list of gayest things ever. I pretty much feel the same about all those guys like that, the scene is kinda stagnant. Actually it's extremely stagnant.

Yes, the "Hard Man to Love" video is retarded. Especially when you know the guy in it is Kevin Fowler. I love them building up the tortured artist side of him. If there is anything Kevin Fowler is not, it is a tortured artist. I really like some of his songs though, the funny ones.
Favorite *Texas* artists - Burtshci Brothers Thriftstore Cowboys Macon Greyson Slaid Cleaves Max Stalling
Just thought I'd mention, although I am ashamed to, the stuff I have been hearing off of the newest Cory Morrow cd is pretty cool. I think I am becoming a fan.

Let me ask this; What is the general opinion of Cooder Graw? I am a sucker for that "Lifetime Stand" song.

I guess I will go along with this game.
1. The Smiths 2. Morrissey 3. Her Space Holiday 4. Old 97's 5. Damien Rice
Of course Rodney Parker and the other wankers are up there but to put them in the top 5 at their message board is too much. That is the best I can do with my top five. I am like RP and Dan and can't just name five.
I do disagree with RP with that the question should be the bands that you dislike because you would have the same problem with the bands that you like. at least I would. It should be more like something like this, What is in your CD player right now? Or what do you listen to the most on your Ipod? Something like that.
P.S.

Play a show around here soon!

Mike, I agree w/ you list w/ the exception of LeeAnn Womack (sp?). She's decent. Maybe you just put her up there b/c of her jugs (I'd love to see those boobs).
I have to disagree about the new Cory Morrow Album. I think w/ the exception of Beat of Your Heart, its all just mediocre at best. I know he went through a lot during the development of the album, but it just seems like an uninspired product. But then again, I think everybody who is around long enough will eventually put out an "F' it, I'm going to cut a record anyway" album.
Hard Man to Love video-I busted out laughing the first time I saw it. To begin with, he co-wrote the song so where is the other dude? Second of all, he'd stum one cord, not even a bar, and then pick up the pen and write a line. Maybe that's how the big boys do it, but I'm usually there, stumming several bars, trying to find some words and a melodic tone and then frantically I try to scribble down the words before I forget them. My sheets don't look like a well though-out birthday card...they look like Norm's notes.
Lifetime Stand...this may sound gay but Fischer got me on to that song. First time I heard it we were driving someone.
And the one band that absolutely beats me, that puts me into a Ty Walker powerdown, that causes my body to reboot, that blows the transformer, that puts me on hold in a customer service call, that makes me fill out a women's NCAA bracket, that makes me actually think that my Generic White Businessman job isn't all that bad, that makes me a fan of TO, that makes my ears bleed and want to listen to Garth Brooks, that makes me think that Greggo has decent sports points, that makes me want to put a bullet in the brainpan, that takes my mind off TU's mythical national championshit is Ragweed. What a bunch of SPARES. They have the MOST generic live show. They beat me so much it makes me sick to even think about it.

Matt, Lee Ann Womack is my guilty pleasure. I really liked her first CD, then I kind of backed off on the "Hope You Dance" period. I like the latest CD cause it reminds me of her earlier recordings. She's not the prettiest chick singer out there, but there is something sexy about her. Probably the jugs.
I am a little confused about your statement concerning "Lifetime Stand". I think I'll just leave that alone.

Dad gummit Stubbs, Read your posts before you post them.
Anywho...My thoughts on the topic. I understand where y'all come from on the Kevin Fowler, Randy Rogers types. I also understand what you mean when you say that the "Texas" scene is a bit stagnant. But let me ask you this: It seems like, and I do it too, that we love to back those guys that no one knows and claim them to be the next great thing. Then, when they actually become the next great thing, we shun them and say they sold out. Sure Randy has some songs that aren't my favorites, but after a while its going to happen to everyone. He still has some outstanding songs. I guess as they get more established they lose a little of that "F you, I'm doing what I want" luster.
Just a thought. I know absolutely nothing about anything.
Rodney, since we are all putting in concert requests, come play a show in my parts.
