Good one Sully.
Deer Season is a great time to rile a few people up.
I wont be hunting until the 19th.
I will post pictures of my harvests.
I picked up a Simmons 6.5x20x50mm for my AR that will allow me to see into the future via a mil-dot reticle.
500 yards here I come.
Mark it.

The funny thing is, I used those same sheds to trick the guys into thinking I was hauling a huge 10 point back to camp last year by taping them to a cooler in the back of the truck so they just sat above the bed. You can probably find the pics in last year's thread if you're interested.
I'm betting these sheds and their jokes are done now. The guys won't believe anything we ever say again, but it was worth it. We talked about getting enough money saved up to get them mounted to hang at camp.

You didn't have to convince me. You said "no it was just a doe" and I knew exactly what had happened. I had been had. It was a great joke, though.
I should have known. You have never told the truth. I wasn't there last year when you played the joke, but I remember you calling me about it.

Today is my Friday, and the kids have to go to school tomorrow so DEER STAND!!!!! Yay!!!!
Sorry, I'm a bit excited. I've never had deer as big as the ones I have this year coming in to eat on a regular basis, in the day light.

That's awesome.
My truck is loaded up with my bare essentials, Tick's entire wardrobe and enough bedding to stock a small motel. But that's a whole different issue.
Anyways, we are leaving at 1 to head to the lease. Will be hunting tonight, tomorrow AM & PM, Friday AM & PM, Saturday AM & PM, Sunday AM & PM, and Monday AM.
Surely we will let the air out of a few dur.

I hope ya'll all get one. I'm heading out as soon as I drop Hudson off at daycare at 7:30 AM tomorrow. Can't wait to get there. Since calling was working, I plan to move around a bit.

Fischer, Where do you hunt? I saw mention about Hamilton in some post....I hunt in Hico, or the ranch is between Hico and Hamilton.

Probably You take 2602 off 281 south of Hico, then a couple of dirt roads and you're here. If you do come that way, you're welcome for there being one less buzzard eating the deer in the middle of the road, bastard wasn't quick enough and I obliterated him. Yuuuuuck. Glad I was in my husband's truck and not my car. Blech. It is sooooo still and quiet out here today. I've seen a ton of does and the retarded spike. Yes, I facebook, email, etc, in the deer stand.

Need more live hunting reports. My service sucks and I can barely get on the board with the Blackberry browser (too much to load). The weekend was a bust for me. Lytle got his first ever deer though! It was a doe on Sat night.

Horrible luck this week.
Tick shot a real nice, old buck and Lytle shot a doe. That was it.

Saw a ton of does Thursday evening... and my spike
Friday, I walked for the first time actually stalking deer, followed one for about half an hour, led me to a pretty nice 8 point, and at that moment it was proven to me that when I am standing free-handed, and cold, my marksmanship sucks ass. I missed. But after alot of thought, I'm kinda glad, there are bigger deer out there and I just got too excited. I've never missed anything, definitely knocked my pride down a couple of notches.
Last night was THE most retarded hunting experience of my life, I'm walking to my stand, and I see a deer down the road, raise my gun to look through the scope, and it's the @#%#'ing spike....does he cross the road-NO, does he run away-NO....starts walking down the road, towards me. I didn't want to spook him, so I just stood there, for about a good 4 minutes, gun drawn. My arm was killing me. Then I just saw does for the rest of the night.

When I stalk and I get to the point to where I can see deer, I start low crawling. That way, you are already in the prone when you need to shoot and it's way more stable than a standing or kneeling shot. Also, I take a prescribed nerve pill to help put me in the Zen spot when I do send one down range. I will be in the woods this weekend. I'll try not to wet myself until then, I'm that damn excited about it.

Very good idea....Hindsight is 20/20 and there's several things I've thought about that I should have done....
I have so much over time that I've been told to take the afternoon off work, so I am going to go this afternoon, I love that the ranch is only 45 minutes away from Mineral Wells, which is where I work, so I can take half-days and go if the opportunity arises.
