I think he stays. JD won't make a move just to move him. It will have to make the team better or at least neutral. That isn't going to happen. He stays here, plays 100 games in the field, bats.315, accepts his role, puts up Paul Molitor -like #s at the end of his career and parlays it into a HOF career.

I dont think it matters if it makes the team better for this year. The reason originally was to get rid of as much of his salary as he can.

So the Rangers are back to caring about the bottom line more than winning? I thought Hicks was no longer the owner?

Well I mean getting some good young players but not necessarily making the team better this year.

You make those trades when you know you're probably not going to contend. Not when you're hoping to get back to the World Series. You don't make any moves without making the team better. Now, if in July they're 15 games out you pull the trigger on just about anything, including Josh but not now.

The other time he wasn't being benched and was still an integral part of the team. This time the front office has been very clearly trying to remove young from the team, or at the very least take all responsibility from him. Also he didn't call out the front office in 09. He said he didn't agree with them and even admitted that the rangers were very honest and up front with him. That article you quoted says that. Right now he's going to the media and saying they lied to him, and that he's lost all trust in them.
Not the same situation at all. Oh by the way, he was WRONG last time if you'll recall. He's also wrong this time

Michael Young gave the finger to Nolan Ryan by refusing to even meet with him about this issue. The guy is exactly like Greg Ellis was for the Cowboys. JD needs to move this drama queen pronto!

I just don't understand what he wants to accomplish. Does he not remember that this team is very injury prone? Kinsler will miss 15 games, Josh will miss 15 games and what if Moreland has the sophomore blues? I mean he is going to get to play a lot and I would love to be the DH of a baseball team and make 16 mil a year.
I just don't get what he is trying to prove? Is he embarrassed that he couldn't cut it at 3rd?

very good point. Just take the parts where you said 15 and replace it with 20-30 and it will be the POTD.
I can see why he'd be upset, its a pride thing. But a true leader, and a true champion shuts his mouth and plays ball. Or at the very least he talks to the front office in a discreet manner. He doesn't go run to the media and cry. I've lost a ton of respect. I still like him and think he has been the key to turning the thing around. But he is no longer a top 5er for me.

Either way, again, if he is with this team, this whole thing will blow over and we won't even think about it again. I'd say chances are 75% or so that he'll still be here. And will be the same old Michael Young.
In other news, Hamilton signed a 2 year deal today so he's no longer arbitration eligible in 2011 or 2012. They are still working on a longer term deal, but it looks like he'll be making $12M per year for the next two.

Even if we don't hear about it, its a big deal. I agree that he'll be here because we can't get rid of him. He's over paid.
I'm sure he'll show up to camp, say the right things, and do what he's told. Thing is, he should have done that from the get go. It'll have its effects in the locker room for sure.

Yeah I'm torn cause I think, in the role I just described, he would be a super back up at almost every position and if someone went down for the year we wouldn't lose a step. I just can't stand guys who complain about little things when you are getting 16M a year. If you want some drama in your life go cheat on your wife with a 18 yr old stripper, I know I would......
