I was thinking maybe the Ags should look into the Sunbelt Conference.

Texas A&M President R. Bowen Loftin issued this statement on conference affiliation:
"Texas A&M is a proud member of the Big 12 Conference and will continue to be affiliated with the conference in the future. As Athletics Director Bill Byrne and I have stated on numerous occasions, our hope and desire was for the Big 12 to continue. We are committed to the Big 12 and its success today and into the future."
I guess the SEC should check with TU before ever inviting aTm again.
Unfortunate.

The SEC will never have anything to do with A&M again. They have been screwed over twice. It won't happen a third time.
The thing is, from most accounts the Aggies were threatened with the cutting of funding from the PUF which is millions and millions of dollars for the University on a yearly basis. We really had no choice if that was true.

The new Big 10 will be weaker than ever before. With the top two teams in the North gone (not saying much), it's a joke. They ought to rename it the Texas Conference.

It is a huge win for tu both financially and competitively. They get the lion's share of the money, their own network, and control over the entire conference. No more championship game means that the winner of OU/TU has a clear path to a BCS bowl. It's pretty much the old SWC with OU playing the Arkansas part.

I guess we can still have some hope considering how much the rumors change everyday, but this looks more certain than ever.

We really had no choice if that was true. I don't know where you are hearing this but that is probably not true. The PUF is in the Texas Constitution which would have had to be amended to cut Texas A&M out. It's doubtful the legislature would have been able to pass this without a huge public backlash. I'm not saying it isn't possible with the way politics works these days, but it's very doubtful the state could have followed through on it. It's also not something they could have done over night, it would have taken years for them to accomplish this.

You do realize that Tulsa has the smalled enrollment of FBS schools and their undergrad enrollment is just uner 3k, right? Tulsa is the #61 market and Arkansas probably pulls better numbers there than the Golden Showers do.

blog.oregonlive.com/pac10/2010/06/report_utah_gives_notice_it_wi.html•The five Big 12 programs that would have been left behind -- Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Baylor and Missouri -- all agreed to sign over their share of Colorado (Pac-10) and Nebraska (Big Ten) buyout money to Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M in order to help coax them to stay. •Texas Tech has yet to sign off on the deal to save the Big 12. The commissioner hopes they'll do so when regents meet today. •The Big 12 does not yet have a future TV deal agreed to at this time, although the projections Beebe used to help persuade the Longhorns, Sooners and Aggies to stay would promise them in the range of $17 million per year. Rather than a deal, he says, he has confidence those numbers will hold up based on the research he's done and the conversations he's had.
"Research and conversations"? WTF?? I think I might need a little more than that to cast my lot with tu and ou. Maybe the folks in Lubbock will save the Aggies from themselves? *also Matt will need a better false start and head bob than that to drive me offsides.
