Tyler and I ran a 5K race together Saturday morning. The weather was great, other than the wind, and we did pretty good. Out of 1300 runners (2600 total between 5 and 10K), we got 291 and 292 with a time of 28.41. I ran with her the whole time since we were doing this thing together, and she passed me up with about 20 feet to go, so she beat me by about half a second. I'm going to sign up for one alone and see if I can get in the 22-23 range.
She placed 13th in her division (F 25-29), out of 300 or so. That's pretty dang good.
I was 30th in M 25-29. Got some work to do.
Overall, it was a lot of fun. Good weather, tons of people, felt good all day after that. Bands playing and free food an booze afterward. Free tshirt with your entry. Everyone should try these suckers out at least once. It's a pretty good time, even though they start at 8 AM on Saturdays.

Lauren has been doing them, they go on about once a month. She goes through the org called "Run On." I have gone with her to them but havent done one yet. I hate running with a passion. But Im sure ill eventually get in one.

I used to be able to do a 3 miler in 18:30 or better. Of course that was back when i had to run 12-15 miles a week for Physical Training..
The only thing I run now is my mouth and the light bill up.

About the only good thing that came out of tearing every ligament in my knee is that I can't run on asphalt anymore. Score one for me!!!

LOL aaron and finch! I'm right there with y'all. Back in the day when I was tiny and in sports and all that, I was a running fool. Then the knee injuries took effect. hurray for zip-zero cartilage!
Congrats on y'alls finish sully! Props to you for that dude.

Ok. I never ran another race last year. I got lazy, and ended up gaining about 20 lbs over the last 6 months or so. I'm was over 200 lbs Sunday for the first time in about 4 years. So, I'm getting back on the running train. Ran sprints Sunday, then a 5K in 27.15 on Monday. Another 5K in 26.55 today. I'll be running the following races if anyone wants to join me. My goal is to get back down to 180 before the baby is born in June, and to complete my first half marathon. January 29th – Texas Half –http://www.texashalf.com/ (I’ll be running the 5K at this one.) February 26-27th – Cowtown Marathon - www.cowtownmarathon.org/ (5K or 10K at this one, which are Sat) March 27th – Rock n Roll Dallas Half Marathon - dallas.competitor.com/ Or March 26th – Joe’s Run - samaritanhouse.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=75&Itemid=83 (10K, In case I’m not ready for the half.) April 10th – Big D Texas Marathon - www.texasmarathon.com/ (Half marathon, hopefully) So, we'll see how it goes. If I can't get up to 13.1 miles by April 10th, I'll find another one in April at 10K or so, then do it in May or early June. Who's with me?

I might join you Sully. I'm more suited for races closer to a .5k but I'll try one or two. I'll look at them and let you know.

Julie and her sister are running one race a month for the entire year.
Maybe they'll do some of the ones you are.

Update:
I did a 5 mile run Saturday morning in 48.05. Then was pretty damn sore for a couple of days. Ran another 5k today in 26.20. Shaving 35 secs off my last one.
This may be boring to ya'll but I gotta do something to keep me going. I haven't lost a lb unfortunately.

You have to burn 3800 calories to lose a pound.
You burn about 125-150 calories running a mile.
So basically, what you eat is way more important than how much you work out if losing weight is your goal.
