Well I was talking about fan travel but either way. It will make flying easier I suppose. But driving is out of the question for any game. Driving was pretty much out of the question in the MWC. UNM was the closest school and it's about a 12-13 hr drive to Albuquerque. The only time I ever heard of people driving to any Congrats to TCU on the new conference. I sure didn't think TCu would get the Big East to accept them in all sports. Seems TCU is actually leaving a tougher conference for an easy route (they think) to an AQ in the BCS. I find it interesting to see that the president of the conference is from a school (ND) that doesn't think the conference is good enough for his football team. How will it be easier? The MWC is losing two of their best 3 teams. This year the MWC is better but it won't be the same conference next year or even in 2012. Just 2 or 3 years ago WVU was one win away from going to the NCG.

Last year Cincinnati went undefeated and was never even considered for the NCG. Going undefeated in the BE is by no means a guaranteed spot in the NCG.

Oh, about ND...The Big East is a Catholic conference. The Catholic schools were the ones needing convincing to invite all sports. I find it interesting that the 2nd most powerful person in the conference is the ND president. Eventually, ND is going to be forced to join a conference in football. The logical choice is the B10 but they would need to bring in a 14th team. Who would they bring? Mizzou? The conference soured on them very quickly earlier this summer. There is a greater than zero chance that they would join the Big East. It would all depend on what kind of TV contract they can generate. The Big East network is about a year away from launching. With markets like DC, Philly, DFW, Pittsburg, NYC x4, and Chicago x2, I'm sure a lot of money can be generated. I think I saw where the BE now has 5 of the top 14 markets nationally. It would all depend on what other schools they could bring in. Central FL is the name other than Villanova throw about but could they lure a school like Kansas? What about Kansas and Mizzou?

At this point I don't see how it makes it easier to play for a MNC. It makes it easier to make a BCS bowl but not play for a title. Most people thought that TCU would jump Cincy last year if Texas had lost the BXII championship game.

No, I think if TCU has the kind of success in the Big East that they have had in the MWC they will be mentioned in the national title race.
Last year's Cincinnatti team was a joke and everyone knew it.

They already are mentioned in the MNC race. I don't know how the Big East makes them have to wait for the other two to lose any less. The same went for last year. Had they gone through the BE schedule this year they'd still be #3 right now.

you are right, they'd still be three. But they'd be a sure thing if one of the two teams in front of them lost.
Whether its right or not, the Big East still gets more respect than the MWC. TCU won't be seen as an outsider anymore.

True. What will really help is the east coast exposure.
In regards to baseball, the BE's RPI was about 5th, I think. The MWC was 14. Louisville had a good team. ND has been decent. Pitt is seen as a good up-and-coming program. South Florida should be getting better as well. The MWC only had 6 baseball teams.

Wow, that's way better for baseball, then.

Playing in the Little League World Series was better than the MWC. I don't know what they're going to do since Boise doesn't have baseball and they're losing UT and BYU. Fresno State and Nevada still play and FSU won the CWS a few years ago but that still leaves them with only 6 teams.

If a team like UCONN can get in a BCS bowl by winning the Big East, it can't be very hard. It's a crime the BCS has to follow an OBAMA-like plan of spreading the bowl bids around to the weaker conferences and penalizing teams that play top competition.

One statement from the TCU AD puzzles me:
"The BCS does not define TCU. TCU defines the BCS."
HUH?

You think that doesn't make sense, TCU being considered for a BCS is what doesn't make sense.
TCU is stepping UP to join the Big East.
Think about that.
