Stubbs loses a little bit on this thread for having novelesque posts. That and his pg 8 relapse.

When does TCU have to pony up the $1M to the Big East on behalf of West Virgina?
Oh and if I'm the Big East I need TCU to write me a check for backing out of our original deal also.

TCU wired 5M to Providenc, RI about 3 days after accepting the B12bid.
What I'm hearing is they'll take it out of WVU's TV money over the next few years.

It's getting cray cray.
La Tech, FIU, UNT and UTSA will head to CUSA. Texas State and UTA will head to the Sun Belt. Utah State and San Jose St will go to the MWC.
That leaves the WAC with NMSU and Idaho. Ironic that the first conference to get to 16 is now left with 2 football playing members.
Rumors of FSU's interest in the B12 won't go away. The rumors started with Clemson but it appears FSU is now driving the bus, if true. The B12 is on the verge of a new TV deal that could pay $20M per team with 12, $24M if they get to 14, and $28.5 at 16. I'm hearing the deal could go to $32+ if Notre Dame is somehow included. The ACC wouldn't be able to get a deal like this until 2020. The B12's deal would go into effect in 2016, most likely, and be up for renegotiation in 2021. FSU's list of demands are short-they'd have to go to 14, Miami, GT, and Clemson would have to be included (although peering through various message boards GT is dead-set against a move), the conference championship game would be at rotating sites, and the conference would have to maintain a relationship with the Orange Bowl.
The demands aren't unreasonable. The Big 8 members remaining have a long-standing relationship with the Orange Bowl and I think the B12 would love to rid itself of the Fiesta Bowl. The only issue would be that the B12 will fight like hell to get the Cotton Bowl into the BCS or whatever format takes its place in the coming years.
FSU wants to be in the SEC without actually playing in the SEC. This conference would be as close as you could get. It makes sense given the fact that the SEC has eyes for a few ACC teams and the conference would be weakened.
The only hangup from TCU's point of view is in a 14-team how do you split the divisions? ISU would for sure go east but would they break up the Kansas schools? The Deloss12 may say that TCU doesn't have a recent history with the Texas schools and ask them to go east. Who knows? The competition would be about the same and those are some cool places to travel but one of the reasons we wanted into the B12 was to play our old SWC rivals. Or would they ask the Kansas school to go east and keep ISU in the west?
What does this do to the ACC? NCST and VT are targets of the SEC. If they leave and the other 4 leave to the B12 that would leave them with 8, two of which are recent Big East refugees. The ACC would probably eye Rutgers (if BIG doesn't get them first) and UCONN. That would leave them 10 with few other options to expand. USF and Central Florida give them decent fan bases but the academics don't adhere to their standards and with the defection of Clemson and GT they don't make a whole lot of geographic sense. East Carolina deliveres a good fanbase with a pro stadium but they have academic issues as well and don't deliver on TV despite great home attendance. I guess most of their fans actually go to the games. ECU makes a more likely candidate for BEast expansion.
That leads to the BEast. Can they survive in this environment with teams spread out literally across the country? If the B12 goes to 16 Louisville would be a target and they'd be left with 10 teams. Would BSU and SDSU say screw it and go back to the MWC? There's a lot left to be determined.
But good move for CUSA. They lose two Texas schools and replace them with 2 more. Houston will be tough to replace but I wonder if they can maintain their success in what may soon be an obscure conference. However, CUSA gets two programs that at least care about athletics from and administration standpoint.
SMU should have a good overall program but it's clear from their admin and their fanbase that they really could care less. I think the BEast will have buyer's remorse very soon. They remind me of the Miami Dolphins-a lot of lip service about wanting to win but not putting much effort into doing so. I'm really not sure they know what they're doing up on the hilltop. A friend of mine, an SMU alum, said the victory over TCU may be the worse thing to happen because they seem to be resting on the win instead of building on it. Had they lost again with their best team in forever it would have made them angrier and hungrier. He said the hunger seemed to leave the program and fanbase after the win.

Its a novel of rumors and stubbs musings.
Basically, he feels/is hearing that all of the teams in the southern U.S. that aren't currently in the SEC want to join the Big12. So does Notre Dame.
Also, by beating the Jaugernaut that is TCU, SMU's athletics department was set back 20 years.
Pretty normal Stubbs stuff.

For some reason this came to mind shortly after the first paragraph.. matt's man-boobs cry out uncontrollably for the motorboat. plus, the space between his ass cheeks is reserved for the jack-hammer.

I've said all along that ND is pretty much a pipedream. I think the stipulation was put in there more as motivation for the conference to get their ess together and look forward instead of living in the past.
It does make sense for the ACC teams, though. If you can't beat them or join them, copy them.

Just a little clarification All of these rumors originated on a West Virgina message board. The guy who posted them only referenced a blog (probably his own or his buddies). As far as rumors go, this ranks right between big foot and the moon being made of cheese. There is zero smoke about this on even a regional level, so I wouldn't bet on FSU leaving the ACC. The tv money rumors are also straight out of Austin, so I wouldn't put much stock in those either. This all reeks of a PR campaign to try and make the Big ? seem more stable than it really is. Welcome to the Big ?, all hat and no cattle.

I like Orlovsky's quote about it being a business. This is just like any other funded organization (public schools, city governments, etc).
It's a business. Business takes money...ha! Businesses that stay in business make money, dumbass.
