Scheu just dropped a 12 point, his first deer ever. I had a shooter spike in the scope but a near by gun shot sent him running.

Sorry for the cut off there, I've been trying to post but I'm not having much luck.
Beer count yesterday was way too high, I did not want to get up this morning. Back in the stand right now waiting on first light.

Good stuff. Atta boy Scheu! Finch have you thought that maybe the sound and stinch of your bottom breath is keeping some prime targets away?

I didn't have any service down in the bottom I was hunting in. But, it was a productive day.
Started out with 4 does early, just as it was getting light enough to see. I was after a doe that day, but thought I'd hunt a bit longer, and get the next couple that came out. Next I saw a spike and a tiny fork-horned 4 point. They stayed around for a while, and ran the does off. Then they took off too. Next up was what I thought was a doe but as I got her in the scope, turns out she had 4-5 inch spikes on top. I let him pass. I saw a decent 8 point chase a doe across the pasture at full speed. I watched them run full bore about 4-500 yards across the field, and she wasn't having it. Then came the 9 pointer we've posted pics of here. He's a decent looking buck, but pretty young looking. He was there for about 20 minutes before he decided to take off to the Northeast. Next thing I know, I hear 5 consecutive gun shots from the direction he walked off to. Guess the neighbor saw something he liked, and can't shoot worth a shit. Hope it wasn't the 9. It was very close though. I think I saw 10-12 deer total that first hunt, so that was promising.
We made it back up to camp and celebrated Scheu's first kill. Good 12 point buck. Mainframe 10 with split brow tines. Pretty buck.
I headed back to the house that day since we had to go to a wedding that afternoon. Found the water heater was blown when I got home and water pouring out all over the garage. Glad it's located in the garage, rather than over our new floors. Now I'm dealing with that today.
Hope we get ya'll some pics up of Scheu's take. It was a fun night and day for me. Can't wait to get back out there next weekend.

My little doe from Sat. Morning. She went about 75 lbs dressed out. I had to carry her ass 1.5 miles out on foot. I went in 3 times this weekend for a whopping 9 miles of walking total. I've got muscles I forgot I had in my legs and lower back. The shoulders are a bit tender also from the indian style haul out rig I made. I took my wife Katie in with me lastnight. We sat until we couldn't see each other in the blind and packed up and started back to the truck. Right before we get to the trail we spook a pack of hogs. I've heard plenty of hogs squeal and snort before. What I heard snort and squeal lastnight was not your normal size hog. This bastard was huge, judging by the sound of his snort and squeal. It was the deepest I've ever heard and Katie was scared shitless. She gave me the "Aaron, get me the f*ck outta here and to the truck NOW, I'm f*cking scared I don't want to be here and what the f*ck was I thinking coming with you, what do I do, what if they come running at us" thing as soon as we spooked the hogs, and then she asked to carry one of the .45 Rugers just in case. So I had a loaded 30.06, a .45 on the hip, a pack, a chair, and a wife that was freaking out. I told her just sit still and keep your light on. We were about to be some pig killin' fools. Then it got quiet. So I got her to the trail and to the truck 1.5 miles later. I don't think she'll be back balls deep in the thick of it with me for a while. At least not during dark. It kinda freaked her out a little. I told her at least it wasn't the Blair Witch. She didn't think that was funny either. I enjoyed every minute of it because that's just what I love to do. The more scary the situation the better the adrenaline is, and that's what I'm after. The wife not so much.

Sounds like a fun hunt DB.
We'll be back at it this weekend, and I'm after a buck. I can't wait.

That is a nice looking area.
How much longer do you get to hunt it?

I have until Sunday the 14th.
So I'm only going to get 4 days total, since I can't take any weekdays off to go out there.
I'm taking my 6 year old daughter in with me Sat morning.
This should be interesting.
