Very good.
Solid established football team. Men's basketball is on the rise. Women's basketball is a perennial tournament team. Six straight regional appearances by the baseball team. Solid golf and tennis teams. Had a player finish 3rd overall and men finished 9th.
It took a while but TCU's athletic program is respectable all the way around.

See, being in a mid level conference has been good for TCU. If you were in a major conference there would be no way you'd have achieved such lofty goals. Long live the Mountain!!

No way of knowing for sure but it hasn't turned out to be as bad as we thought. There are ways to argue for and against it either way. Could TCU have benifitted from the big money? Yes they could have. Could they have used it more effectively than BU would have? Probably. But that wouldn't have exactly translated to wins on the field. You just never know. I'm just glad they are where they are. The program was on the way up when the SWC broke up and after it happened TCU kind of let things slip.

if tcu and baylor were flipped, their situations would be very similar. Except that Baylor was better than tcu when the swc broke up.

So Baylor would have:
Solid established football team. Men's basketball is on the rise. Women's basketball is a perennial tournament team. Six straight regional appearances by the baseball team. Solid golf and tennis teams. Had a player finish 3rd overall and men finished 9th.
It took a while but Baylor's athletic program is respectable all the way around.
But, since they were better at the time...they may have got there much faster.

They were and have traditionally been better in all areas except golf and tennis. What's your point?

I'm going to predict tu will make it to the championship series. Not sure if they will win but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

TCU played hard. that loss was a tough one, buddy.
TU will NOT win the series. I will be surprised if they win more than 2 games. Even if they are in the easiest bracket.

Texas is pretty dang good. I haven't watched much, but from what I've seen, they can play. Pitching is very good. I bet they win it.
TCU played hard.

Both teams played hard. A little more discipline at the plate and the game might have been different. Jughead was snapping his curve pretty good. I think what killed them more than anything was Vern's questionable check swing w/ two outs and Carpenter on first in the top of the first. He had two check swings called for strikes and we didn't get a replay of either. From my couch one was close and the other wasn't. There were several checks in the first two games that were called balls and the TU people were all over the umpires. Guess the 1B ump gave into the whining. That was a complete momentum killer and they couldn't do much until they brought in Dumb Face. They finished with the same amount of hits as TU...the Whorns just know how to be more efficient.
Overall, great year for the Frogs...they way I look at it-only 8 other teams got to play longer than they did. Next year may not be as successful (losing seniors at the corners) but 2011 is shaping up to be another great year especially if we can get Purke to enroll.
