Good article in the Startlegram about the game: www.star-telegram.com/college_sports/story/977949.htmlI like the introduction: In the new world order of TCU football, there are no more Arkansas fans with their hog hats and Winnebagos. No Texas coaches to call the players "cockroaches." No Aggies corps to jeer as they defiantly march down Main Street.
Instead, there is tonight.
It is a shame only a dozen homes will be able to see this game on the VS channel.

The MWC is stupid in thinking more people will watch this game b/c it's a Thursday night. TCU fought hard against it but lost out. They play at Utah on a Thursday later this year after playing on the road the week prior. Even Utah wanted it on Saturday. It's stupid. It doesn't help attendance. It doesn't help viewership. The only benefit is money from the network. This game should be played on a Saturday evening rather than Thursday. Remember, the last time BYU played here it was at 5 PM on a Thursday AFTERNOON. I can live with most of what the conference does but Thursday night games are stupid. They work for the ACC, Big East, and Pac-10...but that's b/c they are on ESPN. If it were played Saturday it might sell out. I think we'd be luck for 40k tonight.
That being said...like the OU game, I have no idea how it will turn out and like OU, it will boil down to BYU's passing game and TCU's secondary which has been inconsistent at times. The coaching staff knows what mistakes they made in Norman and tonight should be a much more competitive game.

I bet its close.
There will only be about 18K in the stands anyways. TCU is just lucky that Stephenville vs Everman isn't tonight or they wouldn't have the biggest football crowd in the area tonight.

There will be at least 30. The whole east side is sold out. I'm thinking 40 is a maybe but 37 is more realistic. If this were Saturday it would be a sell out for sure. Thursday night doesn't attrack the casual football fan.

They do...to an extent. Not many but more than SMU and UNT do combined...which isn't much. The bigger draw, even for TCU fans, is the opponent. SDSU and Wyoming don't get people interested. BYU, Utah, and AFA do but that's only every other year.

The bigger draw, even for TCU fans, is the opponent. SDSU and Wyoming don't get people interested. This was precisely my point on proposing the revival of the Lone Star Conference. Of course, you wanted nothing to do with it.

Rice, UNT, UTEP, and Houston will do next to nothing as far as creating interest. There change in average attendance wouldn't be more than a few hundred.

At least we would have heard of the the schools, the players, and would all know fans of the other schools. It would create rivalries. No one will EVER care about BYU, no matter how high they are ranked.

give me the hometown Froggies. straight up! I called this one. BYU was way overrated. Good win for the Frogs, but I wouldn't book a BCS Bowl trip.

haha, no. They already have a blow out loss, albeit to OU, and will get beat by Utah.
It will be another 10 win season, though if they can avoid laying an egg at some point. Not bad at all.
I still say they would lose 5 or 6 games in the Big 12. The only teams they could beat are ISU, A&M and maybe Baylor.
