Looks good, but would never happen.

it was just an exageration to expand on how far el paso is. My apologies.
I think SWT wants to be D1. Plus, they have a nice stadium and decent support.

I would have to think TCU would support this just for the regional rivalries and the decreased transportation costs. Wouldn't you have more fans from FW go to Denton than Wyoming or Provo? Every campus is located within a 500 mile radius. It is perfect.

Put the Texas teams in one division and the out of state teams in another. Texas Division ? Division SMU ASU UNT Tulsa Rice UL-M UH UL-L TCU Memphis UTEP La. Tech Perfect! I would be so disinterested.

Heck, if it's good enough for Coach Taylor, it's good enough for D-1. Wasn't that Jim Wacker's dying wish? That and "don't ever let them damn Ponies get their nasty, Armenian hands on the skillet."

The best facilities in that conference would go to UTEP...followed by SMU.

Stubbs, why would you be disinterested?
tcu would finally be playing schools that people have heard of. Its been since 95 that that occurred.
This proposed conference has more interesting matchups and its not like you would be losing some exposure...the MWC plays on QVC on Tuesday mornings.

Just wait until TCU is done w/ their renovations. Their non-gameday facilities are already pretty good. The endzone project is almost done. Next will be the other endzone or the second deck. The whole second deck will come down along with part of the lower seating area and will be completely redone w/ a new, anti-vertigo upper deck.

what effect will that have? The stadium will still be half empty. Kids don't care about stadiums enough to switch from a big time school to tcu.

UTEP will still have better facilities. That place is awesome. Comparable to Arizona State. In fact, almost identical.

And what network would pick up this junkyard of a conference? Raycom Sports is dead. I'll take MWC over those schools. The only advantage will be in traveling costs. Give me Utah (BCS appearance and good in basketball), BYU (decent in everything-it's against their religion not to be), UNLV (Vegas...how can you go wrong), SDSU (they may suck in everything but it's a lot prettier there than anywhere else in that proposed conference any time of the year) and Fort Collins. Sure there's Albuquerque and Wyoming but at least it's not Lafayette, Monroe, or Tulsa.

The stadium is not half empty. They averaged about 78% capacity. This new conference would probably reduce attendance.
The Sun Bowl is in a pretty cool. I just thought it looked cool when TCU beat USC there but once I saw it in person it recognized it's genius.

This is one of the many instances where you are incredibly wrong.
You may take those no name MWC schools over regional household names like Houston, SMU, Rice, Tulsa,UTEP, SWT/Memphis, La Tech, etc...
but no one else in this part of the country would. There would actually be people follow these teams and fill up their stadiums (78% average is TERRIBLE for a 45,000 seat stadium).
FSN would be all over this conference. There would be others too. These schools have history. Tell me what SDSU is known for. Wyoming? You have got to be joking.

Not to mention, there is ONE sport that makes money. Football. Basketball can break even if you are really good, mabye even make a little. But all other sports are money pits. Football drives conference affiliation. Nothing else.
The MWC is the most boring conference in football.

Worth would be SMU. Rice has 4000 students. Tulsa 2000. How many would come for the game? 5, 10? Which schools have history? SMU, Houston? What else? They all have a history of losing. No one would travel well. 35000 is a lot more than what most of those teams bring in. There would be no gain whatsoever with this conference.
