How about this: Is it possible for TCU to ever be one of the top 5 football PROGRAMS in Texas, while playing in a mid major conference? I say, no. Then how is UH in the top 5?

Mountain West and CUSA and Sun Belt and Mo. Valley are equals. They are all about a step or two above the Southland and Lone Star.
I have always maintained that TCU, Rice, SMU, Houston, UNT, Arkansas State, La. Tech, La-Monroe, La. Lafayette should all form a conference.
Houston would win this conference 2 out of every 3 years.

TCU's NC of '38 is going to enter the conversation now, I'm sure.

Yeah. The ghosts of Davey O'Brien and Slingin' Sammy Baugh will soon surface.
I support the local team. TCU is a nice little team to pull for, but it is hard to take them seriously.

It's hard to take Houston serious when the only thing separating them from UTA is a football program. They weren't even in the SWC until '76 and they won their titles as the conference was headed south.

That was another discussion. I guess I should have started another thread. We are now talking about programs.
Like I said, I enjoy following the Frogs. They are the college football equivalent of the FW Cats.

I retract my statement about TCU being the FW Cats of college football. They are more like the Frisco Roughriders.

I could not agree more. UH, tcu, Rice, SMU, UNT ASU, La. Tech, La Monroe, U la la, Tulsa, Utep, and one more. That would be a most badass conference.

Tulsa and UTEP are good adds. How about Memphis? Throw them in to finish it up.

actually, the best solution would be to bring SWT up and make them D1.
Then you have a conference built by Texas, oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
The regional support for this conference would be awesome. The games would be fun to attend. There would be some good football going on. No more games vs. BYU and Wyoming.

Put the Texas teams in one division and the out of state teams in another.
Texas Division ? Division
SMU ASU UNT Tulsa Rice UL-M UH UL-L TCU Memphis UTEP La. Tech
Perfect!
