No, I just don't think he's all that great and Louisville's accomplishments since 2003 have been greatly overrated.

Petrino made one mistake: He left before the season was over. That is a HUGE mistake, and he has really pigeonholed himself. He HAS to win now. Everyone in the country hates him (outside of arkansas).
The job moving and all of that is not what is being questioned here by most members of the media. Its his timing. That and he told Blank on Monday that he was not leaving, then left on Tuesday.

yeah, if he doesn't win at Ark., he'll have a hard time landing another HC job outside of the Sun Belt.

Boys...the truth of the matter is that it is a business. Just curious, where was this outcry when Arthur Blanks fired the sixth winningest coach in NFL history with three games left in the season? sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1682856Sorry Artie; what comes around, goes around.

Everyone in the country hates him (outside of arkansas). I kinda like having a coach everybody hates. Usually the ones everybody likes are losers.

It is a business. But its a business of building teams, and champions. To do that you have to be committed.
Its a business of convincing 17-18 yr. old kids to come to your school to play for you. I know that his credibility is zero. Firings are not a case of the coach quitting on the team. Owners are not considered part of the team. Players don't invest themselves in an owner.
No matter what you say to make it seem alright, the truth of the matter is that what Petrino did was wrong. It was sorry. It was cowardly, and snaky. But he can wash the slate clean with a good season or two.
You can be happy for the hire and still agree that what he did was sorry.

"Nutt is a pretty well respected member of the coaching community. Other coaches give him the benefit of the doubt. They don't like the way he was treated."
---fischer 12/7
Coach-How come Nutt is a "respected member of the coaching profession" and Petrino is "sorry, cowardly, and snaky"? Both quit their teams with games remaining in the season and took other jobs the next day. Nutt quits with a $3.5 m check in his back pocket , plus gets a $500,000 a year raise and goes to coach a direct competitor...Petrino walks away from $10 M. to coach in a totally different environment.
Who's the snake?
As far as owners not being considered a part of the team...you tell Jerry Jones and his team that.

You have said over and over that Nutt was run out...he didn't go on his own terms.
Those circumstances are a lot different. He didn't tell the AD the day before that he was going to stay.
I don't think those players consider their owner a part of the team like they do a coach.

You were the first to let us know that that was a forced resignation, Cowtown.
But I see where you are coming from. I felt the same way when Fran came to A&M amid controversy at his previous place of employment. I overlooked it. I just hope for the pigs that this turns out better than fran did.

I was under the impression that the alums wanted him out for the last couple years and everything about what I've read and heard, I don't blame him for getting out.
