Coach, If you owned the bar and hired the bartender would you be ok with him turning away a customer who was sober, of age, and fully eligible to be served?

if it was a very widely known addict, no I wouldn't.
Also, Josh Hamilton never once said he was better than anyone and never said he didn't make mistakes.
Good Christians make mistakes all the time. I am a Christian and I have made more mistakes today than some non Christians make in a week.
Christian=/= perfect or self righteous.

Then if I was the bar owner, I would remind you that I hired you to serve my customers and not make moral judgements on them.
Josh Hamilton uses his religion to make money. A huge part of his support comes from his born again status. He is no better than a TV preacher bilking old ladies out of their SS checks. After all the trouble his family and the Rangers have gone to for him and this is how he repays them? Time to cut ties.

Plus, have you ever denied an alcoholic a drink? It's not fun. This isn't like any addict any of us have ever dealt with. Who knows, if he has a waiter tell him "no," he may respect that so much that he realizes what he is doing and leaves.

Mike. He has done nothing to hurt his status with the Rangers.
And not serving a KNOWN addict is a very responsible action. Its a solid assesment or risk vs reward.
You may not make the $50 in alcohol sales but could avert the possible problems that come with serving the most high profile addict in the area.

You may hire someone to serve customers, but it is also the responsibility of a bartender to use their judgement. This is a big stretch as a comparison: If you owned a gun shop, would you not want your employee to make a judgement if he thought a customer was a terrorist of some sort? Or is he just supposed to sell him a weapon because that is his job? I also do not think Josh is using his situation solely for money making, if at all. The only thing I can think of that he would actually make money on through Christianity is his book. I don't know where that money went though. I highly doubt he gets anything for representing the "I am second" campaign. That is used to spread his beliefs, just like I think most of what he does is used for. Just my opinion though.

Like I said, I don't think anyone is obliged to refuse service to the man. I just wouldn't serve him myself.
I'd love to know how he makes money off of his religion. Being outspoken creates controversy and publicity. He doesn't ever seek out interviews or go out of his way to shove his religion down our throats. He is, however, honest about it and will talk about it when asked about it. Do you hate on Tim Tebow for being a Christian too?
The hypocrisy on this topic does NOT lie with Josh Hamilton.

I fully support Tebow. He's a leader and a winner. I believe he is sincere in his belief unlike the fraud Josh Hamilton.

I think a better comparison would be if you owned a Golden Corral and put a scale by the front door and refused to serve people over 250 lbs. You do that, and you'll go broke.

Coach, you've convinced me. Josh has been a model of consistency, durability and a paragon of truth. I'd go ahead and sign him to that 6 year, $120M contract he says he deserves. Like he said, He's not giving the Rangers any sort of a hometown discount, got to do what's best for the UNION. What have the Rangers ever done for him anyway?
Oh wait...JD says contract talks between the Rangers and Josh have been stopped. Guess he might have effected his standing with the Rangers after all???

No one said he'd been a model of consistency or durability. I just said he's not fake and doesn't make money off of his religion.
You have yet to offer a single bit of evidence to your side, by the way.
I get that he gets hurt all the time. It sucks. But that isn't a reason to hate him with every fiber of your being. He is a HUGE reason that the Rangers have had the success they have enjoyed the last 2 years.

do you seriously not believe that a huge part of his brand is the born-again image he projects? Framp mentioned his book, do you think he did that for free? Jersey sales, endorsements, speaking fees, all that stuff is based on his wholesome image. An image that has proved to be fake at LEAST two times (that we know of). I don't hate Hamilton, I hate that for some reason he can get away with this type of behavior when someone like Dez Bryant gets raked over the coals for sagging his pants or Ryan Mallett for the way he talks. Seems like a double standard to me.
I hope Hamilton does well cause that means the Rangers are doing well. I just don't think he is worth basing the future of this team on and I sure don't think he is the paragon of virtue as he portrays himself.

What is Hamilton getting away with? He is actually going through more trouble for something that 95% of athletes do. The problem is when people think he is supposed to be perfect just because he believes what he does. And again, please explain what behavior he is getting away with. He called a press conference to inform everyone that he drank alcohol.

Well, it's obvious from the reaction on this board that his reputation has not suffered. Sounds like some of you guys still fully support and trust him. Wonder if you would be able to keep your jobs if you had his track record? I know I wouldn't.
Why is St. Josh held to a different standard than Dez Bryant in this area?
