I am happy with the pick by the Cowboys. Obviously didn't see it coming. What I don't like is losing the 2nd Rounder. Kinda sucks, but I guess its what we had to pay to get the best defensive player in the draft. I hope we can find a hidden pass rusher in the 3rd.

Someone on rivals said it best:
"great move. You get the best defender in the draft and you take away Jerry's chance to screw up the 2nd round pick."
Our second round picks always suck

I think it was a bit of a reach but, like Fischer mentioned, their drafting record is pretty bad so maybe this saves them the embarrassment of cutting a 2nd rounder two years later and replacing him with an overpriced, aged veteran.
Framp, don't count on a pass rusher. Did you hear Jerra's rambling press conference the other day? He said he's happy with their pass rush now and wouldn't be disappointed if they didn't get anyone in the draft. What the what??? I nearly spit out my water and fell out of my chair. I guess that's why they're stockpiling corners.

Interesting move by Jerry, CB was obviously a position of need, but they have several holes so I'm not sure giving up a second in a deep draft was a good idea. If Claibourne doesn't blossom in to a shut down corner, which is a pretty big risk, I think it was a bad move.
The two biggest wtf moments for me were KC taking Poe at 11 and Cleveland taking Weeden at 22. Both would have probably still been available in the mid-late second, and both have huge questions marks for first rounders. I also don't understand why people think Weeden will just be able to step in start. So what if he's 28, he still has to learn the playbook and the nuances of the west coast offense. Both will go down as horrible picks in my opinion.

My issue, and Norm just hit on this, is this move did nothing to improve your depth. I don't even know why I care but I'm having a hard time understanding the logic behind the move. It seems like a risky move by a desperate team. That's a move a team with plenty of depth that is looking for one missing piece would make. The Jerrys are far from being one player away. You're replacing starter for starter and right now the Cowboys need bodies. The pass rush is laughable and what good is a corner if he's being run ragged up and down the field all day because the QB has all day to throw? I wouldn't call it a bad move; could turn into a great move...it's just a head-scrather and given Jerry's track record I don't think he's in any position to be taking bold risks. That's a move Jeff Ireland would have done.

My issue with Norm is that he is the one that pounds it into our heads that no matter what a team must take the best player on the board, no matter what their needs are. He is in contoridiction mode now. I know this is a different situation because they gave up another pick, but his main point is we didn't address any holes. He makes me yall at the radio sometimes.

I think Finch is onto something. Haha, not exactly. By shutdown I meant one of the top 2-3 corners in the league. Not saying he won't be that player, just saying if he isn't I think it was bad move, which to me is a pretty big risk. Even if he turns in to a top 15 corner then that was a wasted move because you can still find solid corners in the 2nd and 3rd round. All I'm saying is I think it was pretty high risk/high reward trade. I also agree with Stubbs, Jerry doesn't seem to understand that Super Bowls aren't won with your starting 22 guys, but with your 22-53 guys. The Cowboys have several glaring holes and a severe lack of depth, yet Jerry traded away one of their 8 picks to draft a CB. It's going to be very difficult to fill those holes and add depth with only 7 picks and only one of those picks being in the 1st or 2nd round.

I think we got the best defender in the draft to go play on what was the worst secondary in the league. Pretty good move, in my opinion

I think it was a great move. Jerry just upgraded his pass rush by improving the secondary. The Cowboys will go far in the playoffs this year.

I have my doubts about Romo. Help is on the way. The Cowboy QB Jesus will be there next year.

I'm thinking that was Jerry's way of thinking but why not just actually try to get a pass rusher? It's akin to driving with your heater on in the middle of summer b/c your engine is running hot but doing nothing about why it's actually running hot.
