It's never too early to discuss the ongoings of the sport. This is already a crazy silly season with coaching changes, transfers, early enrollees, etc.
One item of note Fischer may find interesting is Mansfield Legacy's own Josh Doctson is transferring from Wyoming to TCU. What little offense Wyoming put up against TCU last year was put up by the true freshman. I understand he is transferring as a non-scholarship player. How can he afford TCU you ask? His mother is Vice-Chancellor of Marketing at TCU and gets his tuition for next to nothing. We are very pleased to welcome him home.

So, TCU hired his Mom in order to get him enrolled? First the smear campaign against Baylor and now this? TCU is the AUburn of the Big 12 in recruiting.

They don't hire someone to be a Vice Chancellor just to get a 2-3 star athlete. From what I gather TCU was his first choice but didn't get an offer. He and his family decided to take the Wyoming offer because he could start right away and hopefully be good enough to catch the eye of a bigger school and possibly TCU. I'm sure he wouldn't have transferred if he wouldn't have been given a strong assurance that he'd have a spot as awalk-on. That's just what I gather.

Check out Germain Ifedi. His an OL recruit committed to A&M. He's coming to visit TCU next week for a hange and a burger from Dutch's. This kid is a beast. If he signs with A&M he'll be the anchor they'll need up front against SEC defenses.

From the article below:
"The offensive line coach from TCU is recruiting me for them. I just want to go to TCU because a running back from my school (B.J. Catalon) is an early enrollee there. I am going to see more him than anything else. I haven't set up anything yet though. He (the coach) said that he is going top call me in the next week or so to schedule a visit."
A&M visit answers Ifedi's questions
Jeff Tarpley AggieYell.com Publisher
Houston Westside offensive lineman Germain Ifedi is a relative newcomer to Texas A&M's 2012 recruiting class in comparison to most of its membership. The 6 foot 5, 304 pound Ifedi committed to Missouri during the summer over offers from 14 other programs including Arkansas, Baylor, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, and Virginia. However, Ifedi impressed on the field enough during his senior season that the former A&M staff began to get in touch with him during the 2011 season and offered him a scholarship in late October. Wanting to play college ball closer to home, Ifedi accepted almost on the spot.
Even so, Ifedi got to know the remaining members of A&M's 2012 class almost instantaneously via social media and texts. Those classmates as well as his future teammates played a large part in shoring up his commitment to A&M this past weekend on his official visit to College Station.
Germain Ifedi hit it off quickly with Kevin Sumlin. "Getting to know my future teammates and coaches was the best part of the weekend," said Ifedi. "Pretty much everybody was there and we all stayed together. I was with Patrick Lewis, Rhontae Scales, Kimo Tipoti, Tony Hurd, and Lakendrick Williams. We just had a good time. Rhontae was my host and he said that he loves it for most of the same reasons that I committed there. It's got great traditions, a great university, great academics, and it's close to home."
The trip had such an impact on Ifedi that after he got back home he all but shut down the recruiting process.
"I cancelled my visit to Arkansas (Jan. 20) and I might be visiting TCU Jan. 27," said Ifedi. "Arkansas wanted to do an in-home visit today but I informed them not to come. Oklahoma State (he took an official visit there in December) wanted to do one this week and but it's the same thing there. I went to A&M to solidify my mind on them and when I did that I informed them I was committed."
Ifedi also enjoyed the time he spent with new A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin. Ifedi had taken an official visit to Oklahoma State in December after former A&M head coach Mike Sherman was let go, but any fears that Ifedi might have had about Sumlin were more than eased by the time the two spent together.
"Coach Sumlin as great," said Ifedi. "I got to spend a lot of time with him. He seemed very confident but his someone that you can talk to. People had the same feeling for Sumlin that they did for Sherman except that Sumlin is a little younger. You can joke around with him. That's the only difference between the two."
Ifedi also was in the position meetings with offensive line coach B.J. Anderson.
"He is a different coach than coach (Jim) Turner (former offensive line coach under Sherman). He is not as fiery but I think that he is still a good coach. He was talking about you taking care of business," said Ifedi. "He said that if you don't come in and study film, he couldn't help you. He is not going chase you around campus."
Ifedi had been to A&M for junior days in the past where they talked about academics and nutrition much as they did on his official visit However, unlike most of his classmates, he had not seen the freshman living quarters at Reveille Ranch.
"It was nicer than I thought it would be," said Ifedi. "They have individual bathrooms and the beds are pretty big. The room is pretty big too and you can get all of your stuff in there with no problem. It's a lot nicer than I what I thought freshmen be living in."
Ifedi is rated as a three star prospect by Rivals.com and the 36th best guard prospect in the class of 2012.

also, we've known for quite some time that Doctson was transferring. I find it hilarious that you think you scooped it.
Its not a wise football decision for him, but he hated it in wyoming and really had no other choices. He has always liked TCU, but would've gone somewhere else. He chose tcu because its very cheap for him to go there.
The reason its not a wise football move is because he was the man there. He'll sit out a year, and be just another guy on TCU's squad. He had a better chance at making the league in Wyoming.
Stubbs: save your ridiculous arguments and irrelevant stats on this one. I don't feel like arguing about how wise of a football move it is or isn't.

Sorry...I didn't know I was a reporter and had any kind of scoop or breaking news. Ass.
Yes, he did hate it there. His brother said his biggest complaint was the cold. He's a big receiver with good speed. He may just become another guy but I liked what I saw from him last year and think he's got a chance to contribute.

I just find it funny that you are acting like an insider. Don't you think I'd know about our kid transferring?
He's got a real chance to contribute. But instead of being the returning no. 1 receiver he'll be a guy that's sat out a year and buried (at least at first) on the depth chart.

You're making way too big a deal of it. I have no idea what you do and do not know. For all I know you have your head buried in spring depth charts right now. Had it been one of your DBs I may have worded it differently but you were the one who made a mountain out of a molehill. Sully emailed me the other day to let me know the land our campus is located on is in foreclosure and our company is trying to sublet 200k square feet of office space. This wasn't anything new to me and I didn't think he was trying to get a scoop on something. I took no offense to it whatsoever and replied like any sane person would have with additional information about the matter. Sorry your coffee wasn't just right this morning.

I didn't make a big deal of it. I laughed, and laughed good. It's a normal thing for you and I enjoyed it. No reason to be so upset. There was no malice in my statement. Relax.
