That's what I'm thinking. Doesn't really make sense.
FWIW, BYU would have gone to the B12 if they would have moved basketball games, esp the conf tourney, from Sunday. Neither part wanted football only at this point but it could be revisited in the future. Ark was never going to happen and I don't know what even semi-credible journalists entertained the idea. I think ND is still a possibility, albeit longshot, a few years down the road but it would take the BIG making a colossal mistake...which is a possibility.

I got my renewal packet in the mail Tuesday. Last year I got displaced b/c of construction. The seats I had for 5 years are now in the club level and cost 5k a year. I expect to still get decent seats for a reasonable price. My selection date should be solidified in a couple weeks. We're going from 2 to 4 seats this year. I'm ready. Let's get this thing going.

I may or may not renew my North Texas tickets. I only made it to 4 of the 6 games. 2 of those we went to were miserable with the weather and the kid. The other two were fun. It really gets in the way of hunting season.

Memphis to the Big East.
The BE has waived the $50 application fee.

This is only the tip of the iceburg. The next 24 months will bring on conference-aggeddon that will make the last 24 months sound like a mouse fart.
All the mid-majors will be torn apart. The Big East isn't done with being raided so they will do further raiding which will create new alliances among the MMs. The MWC and CUSA have talked about a merger before and I foresee all but the MAC merging with the remaining conferences. So, in light of this, I propose the new SWC:
Rice, UTEP, UNT, Texas State, UTSA, Tulsa, Ark St, LaTech, ULaMon, ULaLa, Tulane...and UTA.
UTA is trying to rebrand itself from a commuter school to a community school much like UNT did 10-15 years ago. They just built a new basketball arena and are in the midst of a master plan that hopes to create a new identity for the school and neighborhood. UTA has never taken football off the boards and it is often a topic of debate in the student council. The football stadium is already there and with the help of alums and if they work with the Arlington ISD they could get it serviceable within a short amount of time.

I find Matt's condescending attitude to the Big East amusing. Just a year ago, when TCU was joining, he was a huge proponent of the conference's future. My have times changed.

That makes three of us. Just mere months ago the Big East was the best possible move for tcu because it gave kids another big time option. Now its not good enough.
Probably because SMU is in it now.

Because it's not the same conference we agreed to join. Mike, just think if after Piggie left the SWC the top 3rd of the SEC bolted for another conference. Would you have been excited if Bama, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia had left for the Metro Conference?
At the time it was the best possible choice for us. The B12 was hanging by a thread and the BE was on the verge of signing a huge contract with ESPN. Then the BE commissioner decided the offer wasn't big enough. ESPN withdrew the offer and gave the ACC double what they originally offered and two foundations of the conference followed the money. At that point the B12 decided to stay together and an offer was made that we couldn't refuse.
How was I condescending towards the Big East? It's a fact. They have at least two remaing teams that are targets for other conferences and they are raiding CUSA and the MWC just to stay afloat. It's a fact. Not condescending.

Florida will be wearing this helmet next year against LSU. Nike is working on something similar for TCU which will be revealed 4/2. Cool concept...poor execution. Attachments:

Florida is irrelevant and will be as long as Will Muschamp is employed there.
