Greenberg was the voice of the ownership group. They made him CEO. The CEO for any company is the voice to the public. Therefore, he was the voice of the team. I can tell you this...Greenberg press conferences are far and away better than listening to Nolan.

The CEO may have been the voice to other owners. He wasn't the voice of the team. We rarely ever heard from him. Nolan has always been far more vocal and visible.

Again I ask, can you name another CEO in the majors? If they are the voices of the team you should be able to.

Bill DeWitt is CEO of the Cardinals. The public in that market knows him.

How many Greenberg press conferences did you here aside from those associated with the purchase of the team. Odds are he may have made one or two more (if that) the entire year.

Greenberg was the marketing guru. Maybe they felt they didn't need any more marketing. Maybe he got too involved with the baseball side of things and they never got over his last ditch effort to land Cliff Lee. Who knows.
Either way, Greenberg brokered the whole deal. He got the money, investors together and put the whole deal together.
Once the deal was done, the investors decided they didn't need him anymore and cut him out. He didn't have any real money in it anyway.

Greenberg was good for the Rangers. Nolan should have compromised.

I hear he's going to star in a revival of Grumpy Old Men with the corpse of Walter Mathaeu.
