That was the first SB halftime that I have watched in a long time, and I was reminded why I stopped watching them long ago. Fergie singing GnR made me want to cut my own ears off so I would never have to listen to something so horrible again. Other than that it was just people coming from the roof and some late '90's special effects. Pretty weak even for the SB.

Every message board I visit (6 boards including this one) has at least one thread about how horrible the half time was. Sorry Sully, you are outnumbered.

I liked it. I like every halftime show though. The amount of coordinating it took to do that is mind-blowing. And so many technical difficulties that could arise....that they even figure out how to make the lights go up and the mics turn on is amazing considering the time frame, much less all the craziness that they pulled out. We work with an area sound company that did a Cowboys halftime show last season. It was just a regular season game, and I don't even remember who sang. But the owner was telling me that they had a set amount of time to bring out the stages and have the audio up and going, after that they lost $1000 for every second they were late. They had something like 50 crewman just working audio and staging. The SB halftime show must be that times a hundred. So, the music wasn't really my cup of tea but it was ok, and it was an impressive display of what could be set up in 15 minutes.

I don't doubt the difficulty.
It was what they were doing that was awful.

You can't please everyone. I never said I liked the music. The sound was sketchy at times. Ushers little appearance beat me down, but the rest was ok.
Who else would you run out there that's relevant to the masses? Black eyed peas were far and away the most successful act over the last few years. They want to run something current out there again that appeals to the younger crowd? It was more entertaining than taylor swift.

Who else would you run out there that's relevant to the masses? You bring up a great point here. No matter who you run out there you're not going to make everyone happy. I say scratch the whole band thing and make it more of a Olympic opening ceremony type of show. Trot out some famous people that are from the city the game is played in, lots of pyro and some kind of ridiculously coordinated light show to rock music. That would probably make the most people happy.

You're right... You cant please everyone. But this thing was pretty widely hated. There are articles all over about how bad it was

The thing is, the show was so much more than the 6 performers. There were probably 300 dancers, numerous audio and lighting techs, staging experts, pyrotechnic experts, safety coordinators, costume designers, art directors, production directors and assistants, songwriters and musicians, and no telling how many guys turning wrenches and driving trucks just to make that one show happen. And here's the kicker for me:
The show is free.
So I cut these folks major slack. Well over 1000 people busted their asses to make it happen, and they should be proud of their work.

But the meat of the show sucked. The people behind the scenes and the people that manage a production like that I can applaud. But the people that made the big bucks on stage didn't impress. The production as a whole is spectacular in a way.
I think a Vegas type show would be successful. Like crazy acrobats and stuff. I guess like Finch said, a Olympic type thing. Or maybe they should just run a comedian out there.

comedian could be good. But you know certain people would be offended.

Maybe they should do a skills challenge for player not in the game. Like Brady v Manning throwing at targets.

Now that is something I would be on board with. Wipeout makes me laugh everytime I flip by it.

They should just throw a local marching band out there.
