After reading some of Craig's and Sully's reactions to last night's game, and seeing how happy they are, I got to thinking...
What are your top sports moments?
1.) Narrowly defeating known powerhouse in the Angling industry "Sully Sullivan" in the 2009 Lonestar Angler of the Year Challenge. I won on a tie breaker.
1A.) 2001 District Championship game in Baseball vs Ryan (crosstown rival). It was awesome. Back and forth the whole night. Greatness.
2.) Defeating La Marque in the Regional Final in 2005, coming back from an 11 point deficit in the final two minutes. Ended up WINNING by 11.
3.) 1998 Big 12 Championship Game. WOW.
4.) Super Bowl 27, you think DFW is going crazy for the Rangers, its nothing compared to when the Cowboys are dominant like they were then.
5.) Texas A&M defeating #1 OU in 2002. Probably the greatest single MOMENT in my sports life, but it also wasn't very meaningful to the team or in the long run.
6.) Winning the District Championship in Track last year with a group of kids who weren't supposed to finish in the top 4. It was an amazing effort on everyone's part.
Honorable Mention:
Coming back from a double digit deficit in 1999 vs Paschal and winning in the final 2 minutes of the game.
Last night's Rangers Game...Its been a long time coming and a huge sigh of relief. Now that the monkey is off their backs maybe they can stick around for a while this time. Great fun last night watching that game.
I am sure I am leaving a few out, but that is a good start.

Beating OU in '02 is up there for me as well, that was a great game.
The Friday after Thanksgiving in '07 when the football team beat the dog out of tu and the basketball team won the NIT. I really thought things were finally coming around for the Ags after that day. Little did I know things wouldn't have changed much three years later.
My first dunk in a high school basketball game was pretty badass for me. I still remember to look on the other teams face as they tried to figure out how a skinny little white boy could get up that high. I still wonder myself sometimes.
Beating La Grange in '01 (the eventual state champs) was awesome. We were pretty much the only team to slow down Ty Gunn (future TCU QB) that year.
Shit, doing this makes me realize how much it has sucked to be an Aggie all these years.

Last night is up close to the top if not number one. I hope somehow they can make last night something of the past by beating the yanks.

I'm trying to think of some and I just realized my sports life sucks. I wasn't a Cowboys fan when they won back in the day. The Rangers were awesome but I think I fall into a bandwagon fan so I can't claim it I don't think.
The only thing I have is our C league softball team, who was ranked 6th out of 10 teams at the end of the year, won the whole thing against a team that hadn't won a game all year by less than 10 runs. It went 3 extra innings going back and forth and we pulled it out in the end.
Pathetic I know.

For all you 2002 Aggies who beat OU my brother, who is a A&M grad, was living in Norman at the time and decided to open the doors and windows to his house and blast the Aggie fight song whenever they scored. He said his neighbors were pissed, suckers.

As far as just being a spectator, one of the greatest moments was the Texas/USC title game in 2005. I didn't care who won, but that game was fun to watch.
For individual accollades, I had two personal performances that stand out: 1) 2000 Football District Rival Game - 24 solo tackles, a sack and a pick. Also, ran for two scores, caught for one, and had over 100 on the ground. 2) 2001 Baseball District Rival Game - Pitched a complete game 2 hit, shutout. Went 3-4 with a walk, a double and 2 homers.
We didn't make the playoffs either year, so I don't have much to hang my hat on.
As far as teams I've been invested in, Tuesday night ranks #1. When the Cowboys were winning Super Bowls in the 90's, I wasn't really that in tune with it. Never had a good college team, and probably never will, considering how UNT sucks. I need to adopt one or go get my Masters somewhere respectable.

After reading Fischer's response, my sports life pretty much sucks.
I did win the Lone Star Angler of the Year award in 2010 though.

ummm DHS JV basketball MVP? DHS Varsity basketball Hustlin' Bronco of the Year?.....
Ill take the Rangers.
Actually we had a couple big wins against Ryan HS in baseball that were pretty awesome. My junior year in basketball I think we only won 3 games, 2 of which were agains Valley View and Lake Dallas who were at the time lesser classes than us. So needless to get a win in our last game of the year against district foe Frisco was prety exciting. It was so sad. The students rushed the court. But it was fun.

Valley View is Class A. Denton High School is 4A.
Accolades aren't really great sports moments. They're good achievements though.

Right. Thats what I said. They were lesser classes than us. I led with VV and LD to help show that the win against Frisco really meant something to us (sad i know).
I dont think you caught the sarcasm in the accolades either. The question marks. The ellipsis. Then the "I'll take the rangers" is emphasizing how worthless the previous were.

No, I understood. I was just saying that while they may not be great moments, you should be proud of them.
The Part about Valley View being one A was just to drive home the point that not only were they smaller than you, they were as small as it can get. Also you stated "at the time were lesser classes than us" which is true, but a little misleading.

yeah.
Sorry for making a big deal about it. Next time I will analyze my response a little closer.
I just thought it funny that Valley View was one of your victories and thought others might like to know that they are, in fact, a one A team.
My apologies.
