Last 3 years, .300 with steadily declining abs, avg, hits, doubles, hrs, rbis and walks.
He better turn that around pretty quick or we're looking at a stat line in '10 like this:
AB - 300 R - 45 H - 80 2B - 10 3B - 0 HR - 12 RBI - 35 BB - 10 SO - 50 AVG - .267

Sully might have just hit the nail on the head right there.

Yea if you go on his stats from last year when he was injured. If thats the case then anyone injured last year is gonna fall of the face of the earth. #1 The lowest he has ever batted in his 13 year career (aside from the 9 games his 1st year) is .295. So, The thought that you project him at .267 is ludicrous (he's black). #2 Over the past 10 years there has only been twice where he has had under 400 ABs. #3 10 BBs? So basically cause he got injured for maybe the second time in his career you project him as a washed up injury prone player. I love me some Byrd but the beset season of his career is only better than one of Vlad's 13 seasons (and it was the injured season). So the Byrd love is coming from a mediocre, but exciting season last year. Vlad has a resume. Marlon has never had over 90 RBI or hit more than 20 HR and batted over .300 only 3 times. He is only 2.5 years younger (debatable). If Vlad put up his 2008 numbers, they would be better than Byrds last year. I have to admit I didnt realize this till I saw it, but when looking at Byrds career stats nothing jumps out at you at all. I wish we still had Byrd but we arent still alright at DH with Vlad. He is still respected and the Temple is his best hitting park. Half of this is cause I felt like Vlad needed defending and I wanted to argue, the other half is cause I agree with it. Pow. He has gone down in every major category the last 5 years. That is actually very false. The last 3 years.

he had one up year in the last 5 in some categories. That was four years ago.
He is on his way out.

Id say three of those years were considerably above average, and for sure better than anything Byrd has done if you are still on that point.

I don't think you can argue that Vlad isn't on his way down.
Byrd is on his way up. Sure, Vlad had some great years. But so did Nolan Ryan back in the day. I don't hear you saying he should be in the starting rotation now, though.

Ok vlad is definitely not going up. But show me where the 32 year old byrd is going up. If his best year is 80 rbi at 31 then there isn't much more he is gonna do. I just don't wanna discount what vlad can do this year.

Don't worry, you aren't discounting anything...

Well I know I'm not, I rarely do....
My HSO: I wish we would have somehow traded Josh when his stock was through the roof after 2008. I'm not sure about him. His swing looked awful last year.....but so did half the teams on that note.

I think Mike called for that trade back then.
I agree with that. I wish we would have gotten rid of him while we could get something for him.

I'm almost certain Mike called for JH trade when his stock was through the roof. Pretty good call.

Vlad is the best player in baseball right now, those stats are rigged.
Byrd sucks like a whore.
Josh is the second best player in baseball right now, those stats are rigged too.
Matt Doyle does NOT know baseball.
