of course stubbs knew him...he knows everyone. Yet another Almost Famous moment. He even said I was a pretty good ballplayer back then...high praise from the father of a MLB all-star...

His dad is a lot different from how I remembered him. He was very humble about the entire situation and even remembered I'm left-handed, played first, and where my grandparents live. OK...I'll bite. What situation did you have with Kerry Woods or his parents? once again...

There was this couple in the suite with us wearing NY 2008 Allstar game caps. I asked if they attended, and he said no, but his son sent them to him. I asked if his son lived there or something, and he said, no he plays ball for the Cubs and was at the game. I asked oh yeah, who? He said Kerry Wood. Stubbs walks up at the same time, and eats that shit up. Cornered them the rest of the night.

So, would you say this was an ace-whip of epic proportions for Mr. Woods?

He avoided us there at the end and stood on the other side of the suite.

It's Wood...singular. But no. It wasn't an ace-whipping. Just a nice conversation. He kept it going just as much as I did. It was really only a half inning or so.
I grew up playing ball against Kerry. He and my dad coach against each other for many years.

He avoided us there at the end and stood on the other side of the suite. Not how it happened. I talked to that guy Matt's gf just as much as I did Gary. We had some mutual friends. Matt was giving me the stink eye.

Did you ever get a hit against him? I don't remember. I did get hit by him a few times and I remember walking a few times. We once got no-hit but I got on base 3 times and scored two runs. Last night I demonstrated to Sully the technique my dad taught me when I faced him. Turn into the pitch, duck your head, drop the bat, and pray to God it's not a strike. I don't recall striking out much against him but I don't remember getting a hit.
