The one good play call last night and Dalton over throws the back by 3 feet.

Short side option was run at least once or twice per series.

I think the spelling is different. He's actually related to suck.

umm, I don't want to get in the way of y'alls rant, but the defense dictates which side of the field the option is run to. There is no direction called in the huddle. you run it according to the front.

I guess a few facts do get in the way of a nice little rant.

Well, I guess defenses know they love the SSO so they line up to force them over that way.

In that case, they should have abandoned it altogether then.

that makes no sense.
Defenses know they love the option so they take the field away to make it easier to defend.
To offset that, you can run midline options, speed options, counters, and some other things to keep a defense honest. But a defense will take away the field on the option if they want to.

They've done really good on counters this year but they've only ran about 10 of them total. One went for 14 yards last night.

Genius. In a kind of related story, one official last night spotted the ball at the 39. He put it down and ran off. Another official came in with another ball and spotted it at the 40. He didn't even see the ball at the 39 and started to walk off. Then it caught his eye and he picked up both, shrugged his shoulders, and threw the one at the 39 off the field. TCU got a free yard...I guess he thought it was the wrong ball.
