no dude, the best hunting is in the south, the best fishing i believe is in the east. although i have no huge fish stories from there, the sheer quantity of lakes with lots and lots of fish in them trumps all other texas regions. panhandle fishing=gay. Agreed, you can't beat the sheer volume of water or fish. Also east Texas has alot more different kinds of fish.

Yes, this may be true.
But just for arguments sake: Allan Henry Reservoir just outside of Lubbutt has produced more share lunker fish (over 13 lbs) in each of the last 2 yrs than any lake in Texas. Alan Henry is 2000 acres. Lake Fork is 30,000. Not to mention Amistad in Del Rio has produced ungodly numbers of huge fish recently as well.

Amistad had some good pub in June's Texas Monthly.

I'm ready to hunt! I can't wait to get out there. Sully, you realize they're talking about shooting wild animals w/ guns, not going out to gay pick-up bars right?

You guys are missing the boat on all of this. The best fishing in texas is most definitely in brazos county. First we have beautiful Lake Bryan. Huge carp and perch, among other species. Not to mention the place is beautiful. The water is just as clear and blue as my toilet after a heavy night of drinking. And have you seen the staggerring 3 and a half foot tall clay cliffs? WOW. There's also the lakes and ponds of Pebble Creek. They are so proud of the fish there, that they hit golf balls at you and dudes in blue shirts chase you in golf carts if you try to hook one of their monsters. The place is legendary.

And no Harvey, we weren't talking about the gay bars. While all of us are shooting these monsters all season, like real men, you will be wishing it wasn't too cold to get in the money pit that is your boat.

That's a strapping young buck. I bet he tastes good.
My brother works for his best friend's dad and he nabbed one of the top 10 highest scoring bucks in North America last year in Canada. It was sick how big that thing was.

Oh I get it, paying possibly thousands of dollars for a couple of weeks of freezing your ass off in a tree house staring blanky into the woods waiting for what ultimately will be perhaps 15 seconds of actual adrenaline is not a complete waste of money or time.

Oh I get it, paying possibly thousands of dollars for a couple of weeks of freezing your ass off in a tree house staring blanky into the woods waiting for what ultimately will be perhaps 15 seconds of actual adrenaline is not a complete waste of money or time. Not to mention missing football all weekend. Like fishing, I just don't have the patience. When I go w/ my dad, he gets up at the ass crack of dawn and goes out in the freezing cold to sit and wait. Meanwhile, I wake up around 8 or so just as they're getting back. He takes a much-needed nap and I play w/ the rabbit ears and watch football. Then, around 3 or so, he gets prepared for the dusk hunt. Meanwhile, a shitty Pac-10 game is on so I walk around w/ a revolver at my hip and just beg for a carnivore to jump out from the mesquite so I can brag about putting a bullet in his head when he tried to attack me. When the sun goes down, I go back to camp, bring the rabbit ears back into the trailer, crank up the generator, watch an evening game in the comfort of being indoors, and eat a ham sandwich. I can guarantee you I have more fun that my dad does. If he nails something, well shit, he's got to drag that damn thing up on his 4-wheeler and hope a wolf or mountain lion doesn't smell it and jump out from the brush before he gets back to camp.
