Yes folks, its official, Big Daddy Bruce Kidder has left KHYI. Maybe now you guys can get more play.
Zach, I don't know you, but maybe you should apply for the PD gig...its got to be better than Border's.
Bruce Kidder Exits As KHYI/Dallas PD After nine years as PD/morning personality, Bruce Kidder has parted ways with Americana outlet KHYI/Dallas. Programming for the station will be handled by an executive committee until a successor is named. Afternoon driver Natalie Lefler moves to mornings and is joined by Nadine Bodett, who arrives from middays at KFWR/Ft. Worth. Those interested in applying for the PD post should send materials to Joshua Jones at josh@khyi.com.

From all the accounts I've read, he decided to step down. I would have no idea why, except that maybe since they hired Nadine he felt that there was too much estrogen floating around. Who knows? Who cares? I liked his selection in music but his surliness was unbearable. Brett Dillon is always very approachable and appreciates when you notice him and comment about the station but Bruce was always a dick. He'd get a big head on you.

Speaking of Brett, His program is probably the best chunk of air on KHYI, I only recently started listening to it, and it is great.

well I have definitely heard a change in the past few days. They were playing wilco the other day! Bruce would never let that happen.

Wish I could pick KHYI up over here in west FW. I am losing faith in KFWR with every Big & Rich/Kenny Chesney/Gretchen Wilson song they play.

Yeah Mike but they also play OKOM a lot more than the Wolf's so-called Texas Country. Maybe its a ploy to slowly make the format all TC. You know, play the commercial stuff a bit, draw the generic cuntree fans in, get them acclimated to OKOM and then shut the door on the crap. Although, I really don't mind that Politically Uncorrect song w/ Merle. And the new Toby Keith about all week long we're real nobodys but the weekends here and its paycheck Fridee is real catchy. I've turned a new leaf on Toby the last few years. He used to be the poster-boy for all that was wrong w/ Music Row but since he's given them the finger and doing his own thing his music isn't that bad.
Mike, you have to admit that the shows they get on Thursdays in the winter in Denton and at 8.0 in the summer are pretty good. I was at Bruce's show last night and the place was almost packed. My Brother and Me gets me ev'ry time.

Matt, I used to be totally on board with that Ranch. In fact, I even have one of their window stickers in my truck. However, they seem to be trying to reach a wider audience by playing that generic stuff every now and then... and I am out on that, bruthhaaaaa!!
I love the 8.0 concert series, saw Randy Rogers there last year and he practically shut downtown down from the crowd. Hate that I missed that Bruce Robinson show, for my money he is one of the best songwriters in America.
As far as the Wolf goes...I tune in once a week to see who Justin has on the Front Porch. Usually a very solid program.
oh yeah, what is OKOM?

OKOM...our kind of music. I used to listen to the FP back when Rick Lovett and before that Abby Goldstein hosted it but I just got tired of Justin kissin' everybody's ass.
Man, I was just saying last night how mad I was for not going to that show last year. The weather was great last night. I didn't even get crotch rot. Bruce, in my opinion, IS the best songwriter around. He said last night that Garth recorded one of his new songs. To each his own I guess. At least Bruce will get his due.
I just doubled my sexy and danger...

We do need to start the phone campaign. Been a while since I heard a RP tune there.
Tell you what. I can pull a few strings at the call center at work and put the number for the Range into the automatic dialer, for telemarketing. I'll set it to dial the number every 10 minutes and request a different song off the cd each time. That might work, don't you think?

Did anyone like Bruce Kidder, anyways?
He probably moved back up north where he belongs. What a fat man.
