Is anyone else a subscriber to Dallas Morning News? I got an email last night with an offer for free tickets to the Stars on Thursday night. I'm not sure if we can make it, but I checked anyway. You can get tickets right behind the glass for free with this deal. They are just about sold out, so you can't get seats together.
I went ahead and bought two tickets. They are in the premium level (row D) in opposite corners. Now I gotta figure out what to do with them. Let me know if you want the email forwarded to you. There are still some tickets available.

Interesting. I have been watching a lot of Stars lately ever since football ended. They are fun to watch. I enjoy them more than the Mavs.

This has been one of the best NHL regular seasons in a long time. This last two and a half weeks will be great.
Did anyone see the opening faceoff fight between NJ and NYR last night? Three fights 3 seconds into the game. Pittsburgh and Philly dusted it up several times Sunday in the best regular season game I've seen all year. Philly scored with .9 seconds left in OT. I hated the Pens lost but as a hockey fan it was a helluva game. Pitt and Philly play two more times in the last 10 games and if the Pens can't catch NYR the two will play in the first round.

About the Stars...not a whole lot of skill on the team but they play as hard as a unit as just about anyone else in the league. They're not much talented as they've been the last few years but are much more aggressive end to end. It's helped during the second half of the season but I think in the playoffs it will be their achilles heal. Their lack of depth will be exposed.

Yea I just watched the NY/NJ start on youtube. Pretty awesome. If the Stars can stay healthy they can make some noise. The problem is they still aren't even in a for sure playoff spot yet, even after their awesome run. The thing about the NHL is that anything can happen in the playoffs. It is more wide open than any other league. I think an 8 seed has won the Cup before. They just need to get hot again and win their division. If Kari, Benn, Ott, Morrow (even though I think he is overrated), and their defense can stay away from injuries they should at least make this exciting. Ribeiro might be the biggest douche in the league (French-Canadian) but he is one of the most exciting players to watch on the team. They have to have Ott on the ice cause he is the only thing that makes the team tough and physical outside of Souray and maybe Fistric. I don't know a ton about the team but this is what I have gathered over the past month or two when my attention has moved to hockey following football season. The rest of their top players have stayed pretty health from what I know - i.e. Ryder and Erickson. Playoff hockey is fun, so I hope these guys can finish strong.

Ott is a little bitch. He tried to bait about 4 Pens all day. Finally Byslma sent out Aaron Asham to line up against him and Ott backed down. His next shift he's back to acting like he's challenging Kunitz (a little guy who gave Hartnell the business Sunday) so Orpik takes a run at him and he backs down again. Ott is the biggest bitch of a tough guy since Darian Hatcher. And yes, Morrow is EXTREMELY overrated.

I was watching that game. Ott did not back down. He was trying to get him to go. Ott never backs down. He is the only one that is constantly looking for a fight and to get in the heads of the other team. He does his job well. If fans of other teams liked him then he wouldn't be doing it right. It's a good thing you dislike him.

I've never heard anyone mention that Ott backs down. I've only heard the exact opposite.

Dude, he completely backed down. They didn't show it on TV. I was at the game. Asham kept saying "let's go. Let's go." Ott skated backwards before the puck even dropped. I recorded the game and watched it the next day. It was just out of frame. Everyone in the arena thought they were going to throw down. Asham is one of the best fighters in the league and Ott skated away. That's Ott's MO. He'll paster the smaller forwards...try to get them to go...but if they throw an enforcer out on the ice he acts like he hasn't been doing anything all game. That's what he's known for. Why do you think no one wanted him at the trade deadline. He's a liability. As much as I hate Scott Hartnell I'd take him with one leg over Ott. It's one thing to take penalties and it's another to take them at crucial points in the game. Malkin takes bad penalties but he's the best player in the league. Ott has 10 goals and 125+ PIMS. He's a liability.
One guy I am impressed with is Ryder. That kid could be something special. He's playing at a +20. Louis Eriksson is playing out of his mind as well.
