Got my formal 2011 Review here at work today. Lasted about 30 minutes. Mostly, 'you're doing a great job...blah blah blah' and 'you had a great year...blah blah blah' and 'don't expect this every year...blah blah blah', then to the good part.
10% raise, 25% bonus.
And, I'm getting assigned to a new acquisition in Lewisville and getting pulled out of Houston. Keeping STL. How should I celebrate?

Damn. Congrats. That's big. I saw stuffed giraffe at rustic store in the Stockyards yesterday that had your name all over it. My 4th QU improved 33% over the 3rd QU and my bonus was insulting. Told my boss next time to just keep it b/c obviously the company needs it more than I do. Hence why I'm looking for another job. Y'all hiring?

Who needs a step stool when you can use your wallet? I'd celebrate with an evening alone with my woman, two good bottles of higher end Spumante or Moscato, a few strawberries rolled in sugar and a pack of wetnaps, because at that point of the evening, shit would be getting seriously fun and sticky. Congrats to you Sully. You make all of us here at the board want to strive hard to acheive greatness. How'd you do that? Heck, I'm not even mad; that's amazing ! (Ron Burgundy)

The funny thing is I was starting to get restless and looking around to see what might be out there. Now the raise is great, but it just got me out of the under-paid category. The bonus, was unexpected, and now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the money. It's not a ton of cash, but it would go a long way toward something. Do I try to find something to invest it in? Pay off debt? Save it? I don't know what to do.

Here are some options we're thinking about...
A) Pay off Tyler's car @ 4% interest (boring). B) Pay off about half of our remaining balance on student loans @ 6% and 4% interest (boring). C) Pay toward the balance of the house @ 6.25% (boring). D) Put it in savings for a future new house purchase (real boring). E) Improve the current house with a new fence, new back patio and landscape work (would be nice, and we'd enjoy it for a few years, but may never get it back when we sell). F) Put some money down on a lot (not sure where, plus creates another bill). G) Put it into some kind of investment (stocks, mutual fund, additional retirement acct, college savings plan, some other business venture, but what I don't know).
Thoughts?

Your definition of a ton of cash and mine are vastly different. I'd pay off as much debt as possible after buying a guided trip on fork for you and a friend. I'd also throw down what (for you) is chump change and get some baseball tickets

Do not do E. You're right, you won't get an ROI. You've already done plenty with the house and as long as Husdson doesn't go crazy with a permanent marker in the kitchen you've done an excellent job at tapping out the value in your house. Do a few nice things here and there over the next few months but set aside 80% and don't touch it until you both settle on something that adds value to your future.
