Have some leftover birthday money burning a hole in my pocket. I am currently in the market for a small carry pistol, but I have also had my eye on a new deer rifle since last year.
Should I buy the small carry pistol now, and start over saving for the deer rifle, or hold off on the carry pistol and continue to save for the rifle?

I'd go deer rifle. You've got a great carry pistol and you've been wanting that rifle for two years.
You looking for a revolver for carry? What caliber?

I started out looking for a revolver similar to yours for pocket carry, but then I stumbled upon the Ruger LC9 and it's definitely got my interest. Th price is pretty reasonable and there are a bunch on gunbroker so with a little patience I could probably find a deal.
One thing I remembered is that I really need a new scope for my dad's .30-06, so i probably need to wait on both and buy that first, but a scope isn't near as fun to buy as a gun.

I was going to recommend the LC9 if you were after a semi auto.
I'd definitely try to handle one, and if you like it I might throw that in front of the deer rifle. It'd be a lot more fun to shoot than my 638.

So far I really like the reviews, but I'm always hesitant with small pistols.

That's what I mean. I'd make sure to handle one with those candy bar fingers you got.
My carry pistol is really lightweight, packs a great punch, is dependable, and easily concealable. It can also be shot single or double action.
But its not really much fun to shoot.

Smite for not detecting sarcasm and for thinking I would support something so ridiculous.

I picked up two of these Spikes Tactical stripped lowers lastnight. One will be for something like this: OR I'm not sure yet if I want a buffer tube or not yet, I guess I'll have to see how the recoil is on it. Then the other stripped lower will go on this for the Wife. This is her anniversary present this year in November. I will have to hide this until it is completely ready to go and I can present it to her. SHE'S GOING TO GO BANANAS and I cannot wait to give it to her. Here is the rig I'm currently shooting. It's very simple, not a lot of upgraded anything except the anti-roll trigger pin assemblies. She's my favorite out of all of them. I'm about to put on some Magpul Rifle Length MOE Handguards, a new Yankee Hill Low Profile Gas Block, a bipod, and more than likely a new 3x9 scope. I've got the fever bad and I cannot shake it. I am working on a Ruger 10-22 frame and parts right now for my daughter to start plinking with when I deem her to be ready to learn the discipline. Finch, I'd say go with a Rifle dude. You've got a Ruger P345 and that's all a man like you needs as far as a carry pistol. I got the wife a Bersa Thunder .380 for her purse and she's pretty happy with it. Yeah my Ruger P345 is right at 4.2", but I'm a big man, I have the surface area to hide it. And like Coach says, you gotta get them snickerbar thick fingers into the trigger assembly.

I was leaning pretty heavily toward the pistol last night, but y'all have talked me in to waiting on the rifle for now. Think I'm still going to go try it out just in case I come across a really good deal.
