There are different recipes just like anything else. I started out by following the directions exactly and now I kind of do my own thing.
The one we brewed the other day is a dark lager, it'll taste like Negra Modelo.
The Blonde that everyone loved so much the other day is my very own recipe, and I can't think of a beer that it tastes like.
The Brown is a recipe that I deviated from greatly. It came out great, if you like brown ales.

Its called the Midnight Mexican If it was like some bad ass Cholo Vato Loco style of brew you could have called it "Mexicutioner" I have a few bad ass cholo vato loco style dudes who do my tattoos in Beaumont. They are good at what they do so far. I try not to get too deep into conversations while I'm getting work done though.

I'm excited about the mexican beer, can we name it The Wetback? Wetblack. That would be the amber version.

And the Alabama Hot Pocket.
I am in he process of building a table for our deck outside. It is coming along wonderfully, although it turned out a lot bigger than I had planned in my head. My problem is that I don't go in with a hard layout of what I am doing cause I like to be creative. That has hurt me in the past. This table has worked out so far though. I did a lot of sanding today and am going to let the wood dry out a little longer before I protect it. Ill try and get some pictures so I can feel like I have contributed to this thread.
My next project is going to be a couple of Adirondack chairs. I also want to get into the beer brewing hobby as well. Hobbies are fun.

Ha! I do the exact same thing. I try to plan as much as possible before starting a project, but after a while I just say screw it and dive in. Table sounds awesome, don't forget to post pics.

plans are way overrated when it comes to building a piece of furniture.
Framp, if you are serious about getting into brewing, let me know. I can help you out.

You can be my beer coach. Question: How much does a batch make? How much does a batch cost? How long will it last?

It makes 5 gallons, which comes out to about 2 cases.
Cost can range anywhere from $20 to $50.
But if you wanted to buy a case of good beer it'd run you about $50-$65. That's why no one buys good beer by the case.
It lasts as long as it takes you to drink 2 cases. Some of mine have lasted a month. One lasted one day.

Do you need some sort of separate fridge for the process? You can send me a link if you are sick of these questions.
