You aren't replacing anyone. Your adding a quality arm for very cheap that is just a bonus if he pans out.

I don't mind it if it is cheap. But I also don't want it to hinder the progression of Harrison. Harrison was very solid last year.

The Fielder signing had nothing to do with his Dad. They don't associate with each other at all. It was all Boras and the idiot GM and ownership in DET. Maybe this works for a year. Maybe.
I like the Oswalt deal if it happens. Oswalt>>>Harrison. Depending on the Yu development to the game, our rotation could look like this by the all star break.
Ogando Lewis Darvish Oswalt Holland
I think we'll see Ogando develop even more in '12 and become a front of the rotation guy. Yu will struggle at times this year. Lewis will slowly fall off. Oswalt will be steady and consistent. I'm hoping Holland keeps progressing. This leaves Feliz in the pen after his SP struggles bump him from the rotation.

Oh yeah. Harrison will feel the Rhodes/Oliver void in the pen.

Between the Rangers, Angles, Tigers, Red Sox, and Yankees it's going to be an interesting year in the AL. I might actually watch a little baseball before September this year.

Harrison has nothing to do with it. You start the best five. If Harrison isn't one of those five, then you don't start him because you're afraid of hurting his feelings.
Also, I think you are way overestimating harrison

I do want him if he is %100 healthy. But let look at their stats from last year just for the hell of it. Harrison started 30 games with a 3.39 ERA and went 14-9. Oswalt started 23 games going 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA. Don't bother with the W-L record cause that is irrelevant. These ERAs are pretty close however Oswalt was pitching in the NL and always has. I don't know what you consider good, but a 3.39 ERA in 30 games started is pretty salty. I don't think I am overstating Harrison at all. In fact, Harrison ranked 15th in the AL in ERA last year, just ahead of Felix Hernandez, Jon Lester, and David Price. He doesn't particularly stand out when he pitches but he is extremely effective. Remember, too, that the NL generally take off around .25 of ERA just because of the pitcher batting. Oswalt is good, and I would want him, I just don't think Harrison is getting enough respect. TRUTH.

Scot Feldman says hello. One decent season doesn't make you a stud.
Harrison was a liability at the end of the season and in the playoffs.
But why are you getting hung up on Harrison. Signing Oswalt does not have anything to do with Harrison. You bring all the pitchers in you can and sort them out later.

Like I said, Bring him in if he is healthy. I am more on Harrison now and his lack of respect. He just had a rough WS, but so did a lot of people.

Holland had one of the worst WS appearances we've ever seen in 2010. In 2011 he dished out one of the top 10 WS performances we've seen in our lifetime. No reason to think and older and more mature Harrison couldn't do the same thing.
Yes, you are replacing someone. If they sign him someone is being sent to the bullpen. The Rangers have 6 potential starters trending upwards. Oswalt no longer has an upside. Still good but I don't risk arresting the development of a young starter for one year. I just don't think Oswalt makes sense right now. Harrison could be the lefty you want in the pen but Mike Gonzalez fills that role better. I don't know what's taking so long to re-sign him. He wants to pitch here and is a good fit.
