Has this site new? theoldcoach.rivals.com It is pretty cool. Actually show every school's schedule and it looks like it will keep up with the results. In the past it seemed very difficult to keep up with scores and schedules. I know there were some sites but they just didn't seem reliable.

The old coach isn't new. It used to be way way better. Then rivals bought it a few years ago and it's gone to crap. They do an ok job at results, etc I guess.
In the old days, it was a big mystery who the old coach was. He'd always know things. Like what the uil realignment would be or who was going to get hired where. It was a site just for coaches and it was free.

I will do my best.
Our district has 1000 different policies to protect our players, and we take great care to make sure they are safe.
I'm excited about the new year. Its about time to get the taste of last season out of our mouths.

Monday starts my 7th year of coaching high school football in its greatest venue, the state of Texas. I can't believe its been that long. Feels like just a year or so ago I was a 22 yr. old pup who'd just signed on with the Brenham Cubs. Its been fun and I can't wait to write another chapter in this book.
We WILL be better than last year. Our goal is to win game one. It will be a tough test against an LD Bell team that beat us in the opener last year.
We have made some big fundamental changes at Legacy this year. We have switched offenses and we now have all of our players playing both ways to provide us with depth and the ability to substitute players when they are not getting it done on the field.
In all of my experience, I have had the most success with playing players on both sides of the ball. My opinion is that you need to get the best athletes/players on the field as much as possible. If you don't have 20-25 of those guys, then you need to play them both ways.
Its a little old school, but when is that ever a bad thing? I've spent a lot of time this off season learning new techniques, coverages, and drills to be a better coach this fall.
It's go time.

Play downhill and wait for inside help. KEEP THE CONTAINMENT COACH ! Go gettem' this year dog!

Great idea and I'm surprised more teams don't do more of it. At Nimitz all players had to know both playbooks, even the kicker and punter. I bet at least 6 guys were ironmen and several others rotated. We always had one of the smallest 5A teams and didn't have the luxury of a large talent pool like some other schools.
1) You can never have too many people that know what the hell is going on. It's almost like corporate cross-training. You never know what's going to happen, especially in the early weeks when it's still hot. Case in point: When TCU beat OU in '05 there were Sooners dropping all over the place to dehydration or injury as a result of dehydration. They had guys in there that probably stood around in practice with a finger up their noses. Meanwhile TCU was rotating guys in and out, emptying the depth chart, and rotating guys out of position. In the early third of that game they had a backup fullback play one of the LB positions for a series and an backup LB play DE. They didn't play much but it gave several key players a few plays off here and there and it paid dividends late in the 4th when our guys were a little more fresh. TCU didn't just beat them on the field...they beat them Monday through Friday and in the coaches offices.
2) It builds team chemistry. If everyone knows what everyone else is doing and their assignments it can only benefit a team. I know my office is better because I know the job of the woman across the room and she knows mine. Coaches don't have time during the game to teach and correct every little mistake. A kid may come off the field and someone on the sidelines my say hey "I notice you're doing this with your footwork in your coverage or hey, if you see that linebacker do this then this is how you can beat him." I'm not saying all of a sudden you have 40 extra coaches but every little bit helps. Instead of a guy on offense saying "Johnson did it again...he blew that coverage, what a DA" he now understands what happened and might be able to provide something to help.
You guys could have easily been in that Bell game at the end. There were just some crucial execution errors that proved costly.
I'm excited for you guys. Y'all seem to humbled yourselves enough to say what was being done wasn't working and let's figure out how to best utilize the talent we have.
