according to what? I've always disliked Lebron quite a bit. Wade is more manageable but still not someone who I liked. Endorsements, jersey sales, commercials, road game attendance. I mean, people don't usually spend money on people they hate.

But the more fans someone or some team have the more haters there are for them too. Look at the Yankees and Cowboys: most popular teams. People love em and people love to hate em. Goes both ways.

The main difference for teams like those is, everyone is paying attention to them. You're either a fan or hater. No one really on the fence. Everyone cares how they are doing. The Yankees and Cowboys are on everyone's mind, so naturally, they have much more fans than other teams, because people go one direction or the other.
As for other teams, like the Rangers or Mavericks or Texans or Rockets or Heat even (for now). Most people just don't care. You're either a fan or not. No real haters. No attention outside of those markets. So, naturally they won't have near the attention, promotions, sales, etc. The Heat were getting there, because people latch onto winners. I see that fading when they fail to win.
Same thing happened with Boston Red Sox, Celtics and even Patriots. Now they're fading though.

All that is correct, but we are talking about individuals moreso than the actual team.
Its the individuals on the team that people hate, not the Heat.

People hate the Yankees and Cowboys because they win. Why do people hate the Heat so much? James and Wade were two of the most popular players in the league last year. What did they do to make people immediately start hating them?

Cause every front-running, bandwagon fan along with 95% of the African American community all of the sudden claimed the Heat as "their team." That rubs me the wrong way even though it has nothing to do with the team itself. Like I said I think its "The Decision" by Lebron, the pub they have gotten everyday since then, and its just funny cause they joined forces to dominate the NBA.

Well said, I can definitely see your point. I just wanted someone to give me a reason that made sense.
I think it will be fun to watch either way. If they go on to win several championships I will enjoy watching a great team play. But if they meltdown and go out as one of the biggest busts in the history of sports, well that will be fun too.

I think a lot of people DO love them.
Love brings the hate. I just happen to lean more towards the hate side on this one. Even though I don't really care.
