Any of y'all had any experience with the Remington 770 line of Bolt Actions?
My cousin is wanting to sell his to me for $200.00
It's 30-06, Stainless Barrel, Black Synthetic shell, with Bushnell 3x9 on it already.
I've browsed the web and found them anywhere from 300 400 NIB and used.
I've also found numerous forums that do nothing but bash this gun as a piece of shit not worth the purchase price. I've read that its just a higher end cheap material upgrade from the model 710. Most of the posts I've found say wait the extra paydays it takes to save the extra $150 and go with the 700 ADL, BDL, or SPS for sure.
I had a Remi model 742 30-06 that was made in 1983. That was the first deer rifle I ever owned. It was a fine shooter. My sister inherited it for her Graduation from High School. So that left me without a good deer rifle for years.
I prefer to shoot the 1964 Marlin 30-30 I have over anything else because it's a brush gun and I hunt in the thicket over here, and I'm extremely accurate with it. This season though, I think I may find myself hunting a few pipelines and right-a-ways with a little more length from rifle to target. I want a 300 yard gun if the need arises.
Should I buy it because it's a cheap price on a rig that will get the job done just as good as the higher priced customs or should I wait and regret not buying it several months down the road?
I want it just because it's something else I can add to the collection, but I just feel like my heart's not in it.
