I think it may be sooner than later, I mean look at Alabama, hell the SEC is commonly referred to as the best conference in football and most of those teams run it.......right? I was going to mention the same thing. Everyone wants to air it out but winning is all about defense. How do you keep your defense fresh for 60 minutes? Control the ball. How do you control the ball. Run. Run. Run. Spread offenses either score relatively quick or eat up very little clock b/c of the passes to the sidelines. A spread team may run 12 plays on a TD drive and only eat up 3 minutes of clock. A 12 play 'Bama drive kills 5-7. As a coach on the winning side would you rather have 12 minutes left or 8-10? That's how TCU has done it over the years. They've had the #1 D I think 3 of the last 5 years and it's not necessarily b/c they have the best defense but b/c they tend to pound the ball and win TOP. In the NFL TOP is overrated but that's not the case in college. Air Force does the same thing. They are an up and coming program and have a great D for what the athletes they have. Having the ball for 10 minutes more than your opponent makes an average D good and a good D great.

msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/time-for-aggies-coach-mike-sherman-to-go-093010Is Sherman in trouble? It’s time for Texas A&M to awaken and take that next step toward national prominence. It should be beating Oklahoma State consistently and at least competitive enough to beat Oklahoma or Texas every couple of years.
A replacement for Sherman needs to have upside. The Aggies need to overcome their perceived redneck image and look at Houston coach Kevin Sumlin or kick the tires on Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville.
Did you hear about Chip Brown's tweet a couple weeks ago about Sherman and Gary Patterson? He said A&M could have had him and he turned it down. He said he knew that for a fact. To me it looks like ole Chip is just scared his wHorns could be embarrassed this year by the Ags and it trying to still up a civil war in Aggieland as a distraction.
