I think God is trying to tell me to quit fishing.
I told Sully, we aren't fishermen anymore, we're just boaters. We go boating all the time. We're good at it.

No need to get into the details. We are upstanding citizens.

*April 11th Update*
April 11th - Mansfield Bassmasters April Tourney - Alvarado - Cool, fairly calm day, 10-15 mph winds. Tiny lake, cloudy conditions, very stained water. Took us all morning to find a couple of fish, and they were few and far between. Caught 5 total, all barely under 14 inches, so we didn't have anything to weigh in. We traded catches for 2 each, then I picked one up at the end of the day to gain a little more ground. 8 hrs on the water. This trip was about par for the course for us: Boat/Trailer/Truck/Gear trouble? Check - Fisch scraped the garage on the way out and knocked a tail light off the trailer and the trim off the garage. Run in with the law? Check - Got pulled over by the game warden, and passed inspection. Not a bad day, but still not great. Lake Fork trip coming up. F-10, S-8.

Friday evening and Saturday. I have a new connect at lake fork. You are all aware that my stepdad passed last year.. My mother has re-connected with someone of her dating past. I encouraged her to get out of the house and continue to live her life, and it has helped greatly. This guy was around back when I was 15 I think. I didn't remember him at all from back then. At anyrate, him and my mother have started dating again and he's a super cool dude. Plus I told him if he hurt my mother, him and I would get real MF'in aquainted.. He's retired from the Railroad, got a little piece of land up on Fork, and has invited me to come up and fish, smoke pork, and hang out whenever I want. Maybe, just maybe one day soon, after we move back up to East Texas, I could meet you gents there and we'd have a place to hang out that's not at a damn boatramp. Just a thought...

That'd be awesome. We'll be sleeping at the damn boat ramp Friday night, in the truck. Just like old times, I guess.

***Fork Update***
We got to Fork on Friday afternoon after I sat in traffic and negotiated the incredibly frustrating and crowded downtown Dallas to pick Sully up at his office. Next time, his helicopter will be dropping him off at the boat.
Hit the water at about 5 and immediately went into a cove just off the ramp called sail boat cove. I boated 2 dinks within the first 45 minutes to take the lead to 12-8. We fished for a couple hrs total with no more bites.
We went and ate Crawfish at Bro's and started to get pretty deep into the cooler. The crawfish was awesome and we're having a great time. We decide to meet up with a buddy of mine from my fishing club. He is over at someone else's lake house...and when I say lake house, I mean mansion. This place was nuts. Anyways, we ended up staying there till wayyy to late catching crappie and channel cats off of their docks...cooler is much, much lighter by this point.
We went to sleep very late. I wouldn't even call what we did sleep. More like a really slow blink (thanks Max Stalling).
We get up early in the morning and launch the boat and head up into Birch Creek where I caught my good fish last year and sully almost caught his monster. Right off the bat I boated a decent two and a half pounder to make it 13-8. Alright, this is going to be a great day.
No more fish in that area so we work our way across the channel and fish another area. Sully boats one there to bring it to 13-9.
We continue to fish Birch for the rest of the morning with no luck...and then it strikes...Sully's now famous, or should I say INfamous...FORK FUNK. If you'll remember, last year Sully was pretty much worthless for a certain 7 hr stretch on one of our days at Fork. He gets quiet, won't talk, doesn't care what we do, and is pretty much asleep while awake. It happened again at about 11 AM on Saturday. To remedy this (and to get away from the rain we can see heading our way) we take a break for lunch.
Sully perks up a bit and we head back out to the lake. For the sake of brevity (I know, too late), over the next few hrs, Sully lands a fish that pushes 4 lbs, I miss a really good one (at least 5 lbs), and Sully catches another one that is exactly 4 lbs. So now the lead is 13-11. Sully is outfishing me like no other. He is throwing a wacky rig, which is a great idea and a great adjustment because things had been slow. I was still throwing the same ole things I'd thrown all weekend.
The rain returned at about 4:30 and we ran across the lake to return the keys to the trailer we slept in. By the time we got back, the rain had quit and the weather got really, really nice. We work a bank in Little Caney for the next few hrs. Sully ends up catching 2 more. One that was about 3 and a half and another dink to even up the LSAOY standings at 13-13. More notably, he also now holds the tie breaker, with the biggest fish of the year at 4 lbs.
In that last couple of hrs. I missed another good fish. I was getting really frustrated and upset. I suck at fishing.
Sully kept fishing hard and got a bite from what he thinks is a dink until we look up and see what had to be at LEAST an 8-10 lb. hawg swimming directly at the boat. This thing was MASSIVE. But it was swimming directly towards the boat so Sully didn't feel how big she was. As soon as it sinks in that there is a lunker flying towards us, she turns her head and shakes the lure from her mouth. What a sinking feeling. We left about 20 minutes later.
So all in all it was a really fun trip. Sully outfished me by a mile and caught some good ones. We both missed fish. I missed 2 really good ones and he missed one that would have been HUGE, but I don't know what he could have done.
