Since Cowboy season is over, let's get a little hot stove talk going. The little red-shoed Rangers signed Vlad Guerreo the other day. Let me go on record as saying this will be a huge bust.

I think he still has some value as a DH, in the outfield he is pretty bad though.

It won't work.
I hope I'm wrong, but I am sensing a terrible season for the Rangers.

Just when he's reaching a time in his career where he won't kill the rangers, we go and sign his ass...
Damn.

I still think he will have something. This was really his only bad year this past year and it was cause of a couple injuries. If he stays healthy I think he will enjoy hitting in the Temple like he always has.

Adding a Japaneese refugee pitcher and a broken down Latino hitter is not going to help this team. It's going to be a long season at the Temple.

I don't see how you can think this is a good move.
There is absolutley no desire to win in the Ranger's front office.

Well I like it. He has had one bad year his whole career so I don't think he should be written off yet. Its low risk too.

Low risk has nothing to do with it. He is old and washed up. The Rangers always do this. They pay someone bottom dollar to try to get them through a year or two. Why not pay some young stud, with a future instead?
Terrible move, by one of the worst run organizations in all of sports.

Rangers just signed Kahlil Greene. This guy was a wash out for the Cardinals last year. Had some kind of mental issues. Another huge discount reach. Failed.

How can we assume that after one bad year that a player is washed up? Well, at least we know he can hit in the temple.

because he is old, and no one else wanted him.
Even if he works out alright, the move itself shows that the front office has no interest in building a winning team.

There wasnt much out there this offseason. We got him as a DH not as an outfielder. You dont go after young DHs. They have the field they wanted already so they got a good bat. The team is filled with young players it doesnt hurt to go after a good bat, young or old. Aside from the 9 games he played his first year in '96, last year was the first year in his career that he has finished the season under .300 and it was .295. Add that to the fact that his best hitting park is the temple. I dont see the problem with the move.

I don't see how you can think this is a good move. There is absolutley no desire to win in the Ranger's front office. They really don't have much money to spend until the new ownership takes over. I hope they can sign Sheets. That would crowd the rotation, though.
