PATTERSON NOT CRAZY ABOUT MWC EXPANSION
Patterson did not endorse the idea of Boise State joining the Mountain West Conference. The Broncos have long lobbied for a spot in the nine-team league, which has established itself as the best of the non-BCS leagues in recent years. "I have heard it would raise our standards of our conference as far as being an automatic qualifier. But to be honest with you, I think we have already done that," Patterson said, referencing the possibility of the Mountain West gaining an automatic berth in the BCS. "If Boise did join the conference, would it be tougher for TCU, Boise, Utah, BYU and the other people in our conference to be able to get to a BCS game every year?"

I'm curious about Frog Nation's thoughts on this too. Yeah, it would make it harder, because there would be more competition, and going undefeated would be less likely.
Cake walk.

Kind of exposes all that, "we can't get people to play us" whinning as lipspeak. Patterson wants to auto qualify AND keep that cakewalk conference schedule.

Hahaha...that's the same newspaper that reported that Jerry Hughes had said something that he, in fact, didn't and had to make a retraction within about two hours.
IHe does have a point, though. It would be more difficult. I'm sure if the conference was given AQ status or if they expanded with 2 other teams he wouldn't mind but going from 9 to 10 teams wouldn't make sense. I don't care if it's POWMSU, Northlake College, or Lolligag High. What the Idaho Stateman won't ever report is that POWMSU's AD wrote a letter to the MWC commish outlining a 12-team league with two divisions. In his proposal, TCU, BYU, and Utah were in one division and POWMSU was in the other. But I don't see the point in adding them until we're guaranteed an AQ spot. There are many reasons why I wouldn't want POWMSU in the conference but being scared to play them, as people will spin this to be what he means, is not one of them.

Does anyone else smell that?
What a load of crap. This is VERY simple. TCU just got beat by a superior PROGRAM and doesn't want any part of them anymore.
