Lost 1-0 to Granbury this morning. They are a very skilled and talented team. We couldn't generate much in terms of attack but defended well. The guys responded well to the adjustments we made at halftime and we very close to getting on the end of some balls we played into the box. They were just a bit quicker physically and mentally. Tournament was cancelled shortly after our game.

They are in our district. They are good. Sounds like your team played tough. Just learn from the loss and improve. That is what tournament season is for.
Did you tell them my game plan?

We did cover your game plan. Their speed is what killed us. But it made my guys realize you have to be disciplined for 80 minutes. Hopefully, they can remember that lesson

I work with a guy that has been coaching youth soccer in Granbury for about 10 years. He claims to have started these kids on the path to soccer greatness. You guys have to come back and beat them.

Sad thing that's happened to Granbury...they used to be known for their superb rodeo team...but now that the Haves have moved in they are known for soccer. What's next? Lacrosse?

They aren't really known for soccer. They don't even win the district most years.
Granbury is still best known for their outstanding Ag department. Its one of the best in the state.
Granbury is a really nice town. I wish they weren't the worst football town in Texas.

Maybe if they put some of their women up to strapping on the laces and throwing around some pigskin...

How is their situation different than Aledo? If you can win in Aledo, you can win in Granbury.

After losing to Oak Ridge 2-0 last week and and weekend in which we didn't play (we went 1-3 on the weekend), our record sat at 3-5. District play started last night, and we opened with the cream of the crop, Willis. We had a gameplan, and stuck to it for 80 minutes. They take a shot from 25 yds out , my keeper will make the save easy, then it hits a defender in the back, wrong foots the keeper, goal. Down 1-0 on an own goal at halftime. 20 minutes to go, my best player picks out one of our attacking midfielders and plays a beautiful ball into the box for him to run on to and flick over the goalkeeper. 1-1. We defended like crazy and took our chances on the counter attack when they were there. I'm proud of my boys for the way they played. Very disciplined and focused.
