I thought semi-pro meant the players got paid to play, just not enough to live off of.

no. That would make sense given the name, but no.
semi pro is where you pay your $75 for your uniform, practice once a week, car pool to a game on saturday and drink juice and eat orange slices afterward.
Its just little league for adults.

Anyone catch a glimpse of the UFL last night on Versus? I saw about 3 minutes of it. JP Losman is tearing that league apart!
