What about kneeling it with enough time for two plays and two timeouts on your side. Settling for overtime? What a freaking joke! When you have the better team, this is what conventional wisdom says to do. You don't want to take a chance of a turnover. You play for overtime because your team is the best. I don't like that, but you can hardly call it stupid. Quite the opposite, its actually the smart thing to do. I understand not liking some of the stuff that goes on, I don't either. But statements like that prove some football illiteracy.

I don't want my chance to win decided on a coin flip.

They actually read a statistic on the radio broadcast yesterday that said that over half of the time the team that plays defense first wins the game.
But that is beside the point. Whether you agree with the decision or not (I don't), it wasn't "a freaking joke" of a decision. Its a decision that over half of the coaches in the league would make.

I would have tried to score. Most NFL coaches wouldn't in that situation.
Maybe that is why I am and never will be an NFL caliber coach.

First off, haven't we been down this road before. It's all the coaches fault, we have the players but the coaches suck. Cowboys fans have been saying this since the mid 90's and nothing has changed. Face it, Jerry sucks at making football decisions. As Stubbs said until he turns over 100% control to a GM or head coach the Cowboys will continue to suck.
Second, I've also heard that it doesn't matter who wins the coin flip in overtime. It's pretty much been 50/50 since they started overtime.

Its about field position.

Especially with 2 TO left, i have to take a shot at it. According to this: www.slate.com/id/2209436/In the 14 overtime games that produced a winner this season (2008), the coin-toss victor won 10 of the games, more than 70 percent. Since 2002, the team that's gotten the toss has won more than 60 percent of overtime games.

How bout 1 run, call a time out with 1 second left, and had buehler try a 79 yard field goal.

That Buehler guy is cocky enough to give it a shot.

y'all aren't taking into account how many stupid mistakes and turnovers that the cowboys had made to that point.
about the overtime stat: I am just repeating what Babe read off yesterday. I don't know anything for sure.

I'm going for a score. The time and time-outs were both on your side. Plus, if we are the much better team, why couldn't we gain 30 yards in a couple plays and kick one home?
